I'm not sure what to call her... Mrs. Schafer? Mrs. Spier? Anyway, I can't STAND her. Her "absent-mindedness" seems to be like Claudia's "laziness" -- there is definitely something else going on there. NO ONE is so "absent minded" that they put their earrings in the microwave and their purse in the fridge and forget to put one of their shoes on. Its so annoying. I hate reading about her. And Dawn's always just like "tee hee, MO-OM, you stuck your lipstick in your ear like a pencil! LOLS!" God I would be like "SERIOUSLY quit doin' this crap! It's irritating! I'm sick of picking up after you!"

Sharon Spier/Schafer/Porter whatever bugged me, too. Mainly because practically the moment she moved her kids clear across the country, she worked until 7pm every night and then seemed to spend the rest of the time dating Trip Man or whoever.
Also, it sounded like things with Trip Man were getting serious in Dawn on the Coast, but seven books later, she's marrying Richard. Weird.

Oh, I agree about the "absent-minded" thing! So annoying. And it bugged me how Dawn always had to check her over before she went out of the house. I mean, she can't look in a mirror herself and realize that she's only got one earring on and her shoes are two different colors? And, really, moving your children across the country after a divorce and in the middle of the school year.. Man. Couldn't she have at least waited until the summer so they didn't have to disrupt their school year so much?

I didn't like her either. Nobody can be that absent minded and... SURVIVE. Dawn is always looking after her, taking care of her mom.
And I agree on the marrying Richard thing - it just came so sudden. First she was getting more and more serious with this other guy and Richard was completely out of the picture, then all of a sudden in book 30 Richard and Sharon are suddenly serious again and getting married. Huh?

Another thing I disliked about Sharon was her no arguments-approach to Dawn's coast-hopping. I know she's just being a supportive parent, wants her kids to be happy, etc. And it's sad that both Jeff and Dawn decided to move back, but she should have considered that possibility after she uprooted them so quickly, and in the middle of a Connecticut winter. It's weird, why not just find a place around Palo City for awhile. Did she really want to get back to her hometown THAT fast after she had spent a good part of her life in California?
But then, I forget how much time actually passes between the Schafers' decision to divorce and the move. It might have been mentioned in one of Dawn's books or her chapter in Babysitters' Remember, but I can't recall.

It was kind of weird also how Sharon and Richard just stopped dating and she started dating the Trip-man so suddenly. Why'd they stop? Maybe Sharon planned on getting back with Richard eventually, but wanted to have some fun first... Wasn't the previous Dawn book where she visited California and was tempted to stay? Perhaps Sharon realized she had to get moving on the Richard thing in hopes that it would keep Dawn happy in CT. Having her best friend be her sister. Cause that worked out so well.
It's funny how after Jeff left, the others were all "Well Dawn won't do that. She's too close to her mother. She's actually happy here." Hmm...not quite. That whole family situation was messed up.

I know. How depressed would you be if you were Sharon and both of your kids were like, "screw this, we're moving back with Dad!" I guess it might make you realize how incredibly stupid it was for you to completely uproot their lives like that, though.

What I don't get is that if Dawn has to pick up after her mother, how did she survive *before* Dawn? Another thing is, in Dawn's book, Sharon doesn't have the absentminded thing at all... She seems completely normal.

i dont really like Sharon, she seems like such an idiot. so scatterbrained that she leaves her high heels in the fridge, sounds like a psycho. hahah. and i hate that she moved jeff and dawn all the way to stoneybrook, away from their dad and expects them to adapt to their new environment, 2 seconds after they found out that their parents were getting divorced.
add to this that she always works late evenings, she goes on so many dates with that trip dude and then gets remarried less than a yr after her divorce.
i dont blame her children for leaving to go back to california and i dont feel sorry for her either, she got what she deserved and should have know that it was bound to come. but maybe shes so clueless and silly and thats why she doesnt see it coming.
dawns mum and mrs barrett should be best friends forever, they seem to have a lot of the same characteristics.
sorry if i sound like a b*tch, hahahha. sharons not the only bsc parent i dont like. dont get me started on Mr McGill.

LOL seriously Dawn's mom and Mrs. Barrett should get along great!! I wonder why Dawn used to get so pissed at Mrs. Barrett for being unorganized, but lets her mom get away with just being absent-minded!

She was pissed at Mrs. Barrett but she still let her walk all over her. Maybe they need to form a support group. Scatterbrained Single Moms Anonymous. Hmm...but that would only last about 6 months until they both remarry.

Well technically, she upgraded when she went from Richard to Jack...but then yeah the downgrade came later, after the drugs in college that killed her brain. I'm telling you, Sharon did some serious, hard-hitting drugs in college. There's NO WAY anyone is that scatter brained just because "That's how mom is". Dawn, your mom was messed up.
