Since there's a thread for human names I thought we could have one for the pets too. Opinions on good or stupid pet names?
I think my favorites were Andrew's pets Goldfishie (fish) and Bob (hermit crab) just cause they were simple and he was 4 and you knew he thought them up on his own. I also thought it was sweet how David Michael named Shannon for human Shannon. (Karen naming her rat after Emily didn't have the same effect on me.)
One strange one was Boo Boo. That cat died of old age, so Watson got him way before he had kids and possibly before he married Lisa. It's just a weird cutesy name for a bachelor to name his cat.

I dislike most of the pet names in the BSC universe, mostly because I dislike cutesy names for pets. I'm a firm believer in giving pets real names...not that it matters to the pets or anything.
My least favorite pet names are probably those for the Papadakis pets. Noodle the Poodle, Myrtle the Turtle, Pat the Cat. They bother me. Although, I admit, I once had a turtle named Myrtle. So, I really shouldn't complain.
My favorite pet name is definitely Shannon's Bernese Mountain dog, Astrid of Grenvale. That's just awesome. I love it. I especially love how Shannon introduces her as Astrid of Grenvale.
I've always wondered about the Pike hamster, Frodo. Are we supposed to believe the Pike kids are big Lord of the Rings fans?

About Lord of the Rings, I'm not sure, but weren't they interested in dinosaur books? And where is Grenvale anyways? My favorite pet name actually had to be Frodo. The only times I remember reading about him were when he escapes from his cage. Worst - Tigger. It sounds too much like a stuffed-animal to me - something you can't really do much with.

Heh, I liked the Papadakis pet names! I thought they were cute.
I never actually got the LOTR reference from Frodo... Then again, I'm not a big LOTR fan.
I don't really like the names of Karen's pets. And I don't like Misty or Tigger... They're boring.

England, I believe. And it's actually Grenville. I misspelled it above.

Tigger is such a cliche name for a cat. MA acts as if she's the only one who ever thought of that and it's such a clever name, but it's such a cliche.

I love that he was this mean grumpy old cat and then had such a non-threatening name. Like he was an actual boo-boo; a mistake in getting/keeping him. I remember never liking Pow the basset hound...I just thought that was a really dumb name to give a dog. Priscilla seemed a suitable name for an elegant white cat. I also liked how Kristy named the dog in New York, New York! Sonny for "Son of Louie".

Yeah, I didn't like Tigger's name either. Boring. The Papadakis's pets had funny names. Why was Shannon's dog called Astrid of Grenville, though? Was she really from Grenville? lovelylemontree, I also hate cutesy pet names! I like human names for pets. Specifically, baby names that I adore but can't or won't use for a real baby. That's why my kitten is named Emma.

I can't stand the names the Papadakis kids gave their pets. Boo-Boo sounds pretty cute and I like Frodo. Pow is my favorite pet because basset hounds are my favorite type of dog.

^ Aw. I actually was just going to say I like the Papadakis pet names and can't stand Pow. :)For some reason, that sounds like a name for a big, mean dog to me and I can't picture him as a basset hound. I'm not a dog person at all (cat person, either) and have to say that "Noodle" may be one of my favorites, probably because he (or she - not sure which) is rarely mentioned ;D As for cats, love Boo Boo - cat and the name - and Frodo is cute for a hamster. Bob the Hermit Crab always makes me laugh and Emily Jr. the pet rat cracks me up ;D

I'm sure the Papadakis pets are cute. I just don't like rhyming names. Too cutesy for my taste. Glad you like them though.

I had no idea who "Frodo" was until the trailers for the LotR movies started up for the first time. Then I was all excited because I finally got another BSC reference. I believe that Mal would have read The Hobbit, and maybe the triplets, plus there was an animated LotR cartoon that would have been out that they all might have seen.
