I just had a thought last night.
Stoneybrook is a small community, right?
Okay, MD is well to do, lives in a Victorian mansion in Watson's affluent neihborhood.
Dawn's grandfather, Pop-Pop (Sharon's dad) is a banker, obviously he had money to.
Sharon's maiden name is Porter. MD's last name is Porter.
Think their related?
This would make Dawn a relative of Morbidda Destiny! Imagine if Karen came up with that theory! She'd freak out every time she saw Dawn!

Y'know I've always wondered about that. Now that you mention it, I'm a little disappointed that was never brushed up on...

Heh...maybe she was Dawn's grandfather's first wife. Then he left her for Dawn's grandmother. That would explain why she's so cranky all the time. She might cast a spell on Dawn as revenge! ;D

I've always wondered how a six-year-old came up with a name like "Morbidda Destiny".
I've imagined her to be an estranged sister, but your idea is better. It would have made an excellent mystery. The ghostwriters really missed the boat on that one. Ah, well, there's always fanfiction.

Karen didn't come up with the name 'morbidda destiny'. It was some of the older kids. She mentions it in 'Karen's witch'.

I've never read the Little Sister books. The BSC always made it seem like Karen came up with it herself. I bet Karen lead them to believe that.

^ yeah, I read in an earlier book - Kristy's Great Idea, I believe - that Morbidda Destiny was the name some neighborhood kids gave Mrs Porter. But the majority of other books really made it seem as if Karen made up the name. I hated the Little Sister series.

I never, ever caught the last name thing! Porter is a pretty common name, though.

Oh! And her granddaughter was named Druscilla. WTF?!? Why is her name Druscilla? That's totally a witchy type name, but Morbidda Destiny probably has a totally normal name, the kids just nicknamed her Morbidda, so where is Druscilla coming from?

Morbidda Destiny wasn't a witch after all. She was a vampire! Who, um, can go out during the day.

I guess it goes along the same lines as naming the fat girl Ethel. Also, even if the "older" kids in the neighborhood (and by older I'm guessing they're 9 or 10) came up with Morbidda Destiny, I still have to wonder where on earth they got it from. If you were to ask me to make up a nickname for Karen's "witchy" next door neighbor, I'd probably say "Crazy Witch Lady" or something. Even if I brainstormed for a day and consulted a couple friends, I'd never come up with something like Morbidda Destiny.

I remember Karen saying in Kristy's Great Idea that the kids who told her Mrs. Porter was named Morbidda Destiny were in eighth grade. So she didn't believe Kristy because Kristy was only a seventh grader.

I wonder what Mrs. Porter's real name is. I'm sure it's something dull like Alice or Sue.
