No thread for the Bart-Man? I thought he and Kristy were a cute couple. She was so dreamy and nervous and awkward around him, wanting to dress up and look good for him, etc. I like her freak-outs in Snowbound and Kristy and the Haunted Mansion at the thought of him glimpsing her first thing in the morning. It was nice and 13 year old-ish that sports was a main focus of their friendship/relationship instead of them becoming another "steady" couple.

I always had a tiny crush on Bart growing up I made him out to be completely dreamy in my head. And the way things were going between him and Kristy were more exciting to read about than between Logan and Mary Anne - with Bart and Kristy, you just never knew for sure, things were awkward, etc.

Yeah, I always liked Bart more than Logan. He seemed more like a real guy. I think a few weeks ago, in another thread, I mentioned something about how Logan constantly switched between Unrealistically Perfect Boyfriend to Controlling Jerk so that you got the sense that neither were his real personality and you never knew who the real Logan was.
And I LOVE in Snowbound where Kristy is freaking out about Bart being there in the morning. That might be my favourite part of the entire book.

I loved the relationship between Bart and Kristy because it was so real for thirteen year olds. I don't usually like reading about "perfect" relationships like Logan and Mary Anne (and Todd and Elizabeth from Sweet Valley High).

lol Bart-Man I'm surprised we never had a thread for him! Anyway, he's okay, but I never really gave him much thought. I do like his relationship with Kristy, although I think it's REALLY weird that in Kristy's Mystery Admirer (or is it Secret Admirer? regardless...) he's sending her love letters gushing about how much he likes her, then in later books it's more like Kristy doesn't really know how he feels about her and they're really awkward. I think the awkwardness is cute and realistic but it doesn't really jive with his early admissions of true luv. What ends up really happening with them, anyway? I think I've asked before... but do they just decide to be friends? Then he disappears?

^Oh yeah, his love letters in Kristy's Mystery Admirer were way over-the-top and seemed really out of place. I liked their relationship besides that, though. I agree with everyone who said it seemed more real for two 13 year olds. The slight awkwardness, Kristy's anxiety over him seeing her in the morning, the bonding over sports. It was cute.

Agreed, he was way intense about the notes. "I love you, I love you, I love you". Please... But at least he didn't dress up in a tux and give Kristy a Valentine's Day dinner like they were married.
Kristy kind of decides for the both of them and he's basically like "Uhh...but..ok." (This is in Kristy + Bart = ?) They do remain sort-of friends, coaching together and stuff. He's not mentioned nearly as much as he used to be after that, though.

I also liked Bart a lot more than Logan...though I hated his name! It also seemed a little weird, 'cause wasn't his little brother Kyle or something? Why would one kid get an old-man name and the other something trendy, unless it was in the family or something? Gah.

Maybe Kyle was his middle name? I hate the name Bart too.

In Abby's Un-Valentine, Kristy is all tore up about how their friendship is strained afterwards. She acted all brokenhearted about it as well, joining in with Abby's anti-Valentine's campaign.

^I agree, swingin. He's really the only guy I could see Kristy with (even above Alan who I absolutely cannot stand!). Anyway, as a child, the only thing I really thought about Bart was "wtf?! His name is BART?! As in Simpson?!" heh.

I think the name is why I can't stand him - it always makes me think of "Bart the Fart" from the Mary Kate and Ashley movie How the West Was Fun I really, really can't stand Bart and am just not sure why. I think the name has a lot to do with it though.

I liked how Kristy was nervous around him, instead of being confident. I did like how in Snowbound, Kristy was freaked out about her appearance since it showed a different side of Kristy and I liked the makeover she gave herself. I didn't like the picture of Bart in Snowbound. It's not how I would've imagined him to look like. I think I imagine him looking like he did on the cover of Kristy + Bart = ?.

I really liked early (non Mystery Admirer--too much)!, Bart, too. I loved that he and Kristy were friends who slowly, sometimes, were "more." I hated the way he was written off, but then, the consequences of "Kristy + Bart," made zero sense to me. It would have been much more realistic had their relationship become more of a romance, consistently and Kristy either felt awkward about that or maybe worried they were losing their friendship. I wonder if the "real" reason Bart was "canceled" was so that the Ghosties wouldn't have to either create more of a character for him or for his Bashers. That theory would also hold up for why unlike MA and Logan, Kristy and Bart had no continuity. For a number of books, Bart wasn't even mentioned. Then pow, the two of them are caught nearly having sex. and Logan and MA, didn't have that fragmented relationship (at least that we saw anyway). I think a big part of their issues were lack of communication and possibly the "Dawn dilemma" (Logan had to feel, at least once inferior to or competing with Dawn, didn't he)? A secondary problem was that their relationship went from "getting to know each other/figuring out if MA felt comfortable not only talking to Logan but dating him" all in one book! Given MA's extreme shyness, I'm not so sure how believable that was to say nothing of Richard's immediate Logan approval, but that's another story. IDK, maybe if L and MA had more of an evolving friendship the way K and B started too, they would have been much better off as a couple and individuals.
