^ Hmmm. I thought about this, kylie, and I felt that Alan - and many middle school boys - probably don't get over "crushes" that easy and go after what girl is available. Not saying that all middle school boys are easy and don't care what girl they go after, but if a girl shows interest in them - especially a boy like Alan - I'm sure they would divert their attention rather easily.

That makes sense. Although it depends on how long he had a crush on Kristy for... I'm thinking it may have been since she tricked him in fifth grade? If so, that's two years. Although it would make sense for him to grow out of it in eighth grade, when boys and girls start kissing, etc.

I think if Alan had been allowed to mature even a tiny bit, he and Kristy might have had a sweet friendship. He was someone she grew up with, "hate" him or not. I think part of it is my wish (particularly since TSB came out) the girls characters had been better (and earlier) developed. Maybe another reason I feel this way is when Mary Anne for all intents and purposes changed her "friendship" with Kristy, I could see Kristy more easily wanting to give someone else from her "past" a chance. Does that make sense?
