I think in later books you get to see more of the kishi family. I think for a lot of the middle books you saw claud reacting to not having mimi. But later she realizes that her parents love her and value her talents just as much as mimi did. I also think claud's parents didn't really care that much about the nancy drews/junk food. Claud jumps to a lot of conclusions: see claudia and the great search.

I didn't like Kishis in Middle School Mystery because I got the sense that they didn't really believe Claud (though I'm not sure I would have ) I do think she should have let them help, though. I also just reread Jessi's Horrible Prank and liked reading about the Ramseys having fun and goofing off. They seem like a normal, close, fun family and I like this. Only thing I didn't appreciate was how the parents seemed to condone making fun of Mr. Trout in that book.
