Heh, at first I thought Janine was "Janie". Me too actually. When I found out how to pronounce Janine's name the title "Claudia and Mean Janine" was awesome.

I always pronounced Janine Janie as well! Good to know I am not the only one. When I was younger I could never pronounce Mallory either.
Spier was always Spyer to me as well until I figured it out!

I'm pretty sure Papadakis is PAP-uh-dack-is, with the first syllable pronounced like, well, Pap smear (which was invented by a Greek dude!). I speak some Greek, but I'm definitely not fluent. When I was little, I had a friend who pronounced Prezzioso "pruh-SEE-zee-o" for no discernible reason, and it stuck in my head for quite awhile. I also had serious arguments with another friend over whether the A in Schafer was short or long

When I was a kid, David Michael Thomas came out as "David Mitchell Thomas" because I didn't know that Michael was spelled like that. I thought there was a k in Michael or something. It was until I was 14 and fell in love with Michael Stipe of R.E.M. that i realized i was wrong.
Somewhere along the line I figured out that Shea was actually pronounced "Shay" instead of "she-a." However, I was reading a book the other day and my brain still makes the "she-a" noise when I read his name.
And who the hell names their kid Byron? He's still brian in my world... I guess some of these things are just so ingrained that I'll never get over 'em

I was pretty good at pronouncing the names (clearly I was a strange child!) but for the first year of reading the books I pronounced Spier as Spyer and Schafer as Skaffer!

When I was a kid, David Michael Thomas came out as "David Mitchell Thomas" because I didn't know that Michael was spelled like that. Omg! Me too. I said "David Mitchell" and "Emily Mitchell" (I guess I didn't notice that Michael and Michelle where spelled differently...) When I read my first couple of BSC books I thought they where both adopted and that's why they had a different last name than everyone else. I can't believe I just admited that.

For no real reason, I assumed he was named after Shea Stadium.

I completely forgot, but I used to read it as Emily Mitchell too! Always thought it was a weird name for a little girl...

Byron named after Lord Byron? (Heh.) The Pikes did have English ancestry...

The one I had the most trouble with was Karen's step-father, Seth. I pronounced it with a long e, Seeth. Now that would be a weird name.

^ When I was little, I giggled to myself because I thought that Emily Michelle and David Michael both had the same middle name. Now I know better. For some reason, I had thought for the longest time that Kristy's name was Kirsty like Kirsty Alley.
