Did any of the books ever tell anything about her? How old is she, etc? I know Jeff seemed to like her but I never felt like I knew anything about her. She did always seem older and reminded me of Hannah in the Nancy Drew books - maybe because the last names are so similar. Also, I picture the housekeeper in the Brady Bunch when I think of her. Anyone have impressions of Mrs. Bruen or know anything about her?

I always thought she was pretty good natured. I don't remember too much about her, but I always pictured similar to Aunt Bee from Andy Griffith. How do you say her name? Is it pronounced brooooon or brown or what?

I always pronounced it like Brew-ehn, but I'm pretty certain that's wrong. I kind of liked her. She reminded me a little bit of Mrs. Beale in Maniac Magee.

I pronounced it the same way, baseballchica. I picture her as more with-it and fun than aunt bee.

I pronounced it the same way. I never really got a clear picture of her in my head. To me she just seemed like a nice hardworking older women, other than that I don't remember thinking much about her!

I don't remember any particular descriptions about Mrs Bruen either, but she seemed really cool and laid back. I could just picture her like, whistling a tune as she makes pancakes in the morning or something. She seemed like she really cared for the Schafers and seemed very sweet. I guess we can assume she's married since she's a Mrs?

I also pictured her like Alice from the Brady Bunch. She wasn't just a housekeeper, she was a bit of a nanny for Jeff. And Jeff and Dawn both seemed to think she was pretty awesome.

I always pronounced her name "Brew-en". Just read in the complete guide that she has a baby grandson named Nicholas and goes to help her daughter out with him. This is probably why I picture her as being older (and possibly widowed, though not sure why on that one).

It seems like she kind of "adopted" the Schafers as her family or they "adopted" her ;D She does seem pretty cool and I know Jeff, especially, loves her.

I always pronounce it the same way. I just tried googling it and all I could find was an alternate spelling: Brune. So maybe it is brooon.

I liked her, she seemed cool and easy to talk to. I like her parts in Halloween Mystery (though it was brief) and Here Come the Bridesmaids.

I always felt, from the few glimpses I saw of her, that she always kept on her professional attitude, never letting us in on her true personality.

I also pronounced it as Brew-en. What I saw of her in the books I liked. She seemed like a nice lady.

I always felt, from the few glimpses I saw of her, that she always kept on her professional attitude, never letting us in on her true personality. I always got the impression that the books didn't care about developing a personality for her because she was just there to fill a role - the housekeeper that babysat Jeff - instead of being an actual character. But I am still curious about her as she was a big part of the Schafers' lives. I guess it is more fun to just form my own impressions, though.
