Did they end up moving to Chicago permanently? I read somewhere that Andrew stayed with them, but not Karen.

Just for six months. Then they where back for another round of never ending 2nd grade for Karen and preschool for Andrew (with summers in between of course). I was just reading "Karen's Nanny" which takes place after they've "returned". In January. And I believe that They left for Chicago in the spring or winter (I know it was first brought up in Karen's Snow Queen (I think that was the title) which I think took place in January also and they left a few books later.). The BSC timeline makes my brain hurt.
ps. I love reading about Lisa and Seth

^Yeah I think just reading that recap gave me a migraine. Darn Stoneybrook time warp.

I love reading about Lisa and Seth I just remembered another thing from Karen's Newspaper: Andrew is scared because he is going to a different preschool from the previous year. I've never heard of anyone going to preschool for two years, I thought. And then I remembered that this is BSC Land where they live out their current school years eternally. ;D Another random thought about Lisa and Seth: Why is it always one of them dropping the kids off at the Big House or picking them up? Don't Watson or Elizabeth ever pick them up or drop them off? Even in Kristy and Mr. Mom Seth had to pick up Kristy to babysit for Karen and Andrew.

"I've never heard of anyone going to preschool for two years"
I did, when I was three and four. So did most people I knew. Maybe it's different in Canada though.

Yeah msot people I went to school with were in preschool for two years... I went to a sepcialized school though when I was 3 and four, because i had problems with speech pronunciations and all that, and then went to a regular preschool sometime in the fall when i was 5. (school had already started for the year and i was the "new" kid.)

I just remembered... This is pure memory from reading the books years ago, but didn't Karen mention in a book (or books?) taking place after during the summer that she was going to be in Ms. Colman's class again the next year because she was young/had skipped before or whatever. And then it was never revisited (I think MAYBE it might have been Karen's Lucky Penny but I could be way off...) I remembered thinking then that it could be a solution to Keep Karen in 2nd grade, but then I (and maybe the ghost writers...) remembered that for that to work then ALL of the kids in Ms. Colman's class would have to be held back. And now I see that that would mean other people would actually age, and the BSC (minus Mal and Jessi) would go to high school, and Karen would turn 8, and the whole BSC universe would collapse. And that would also make the obvious solution that makes more sense (to just have Ms. Colman teach 3rd grade the next year, and have everything stay the same for the most part) impossible too. And I really do apologize if I made all of your brains hurt as much as mine does right now. I could ponder the BSC time line all night and just end up more confused than ever. Such a fascinating paradox...

^ ;D I don't ponder the BSC time line any more for these reasons. I actually like it that they stay the same age forever. Wish I could have picked a year in my childhood and stayed there forever. As for preschool, I think it is really common to go at 3 and 4 or 4 and 5, though I never even went at all ;D

^I never think about the time in BSC books either. It makes my head hurt! The only thing that I can't let go is summers where they're all still 13/11 and "in 8th grade" and... gaaah no I'm stopping!! I never went to pre-school either, but niece went when she was 3-4 and then 4-5 (til she started kindergarten) and I think that's pretty common.

I like Lisa and Seth, and Seth seemed like a cool stepdad; Karen and Andrew seemed to really like him. His parents--Karen visits them in Nebraska in Karen's Plane Trip--were also nice. And the pics of his cat and dog, Rocky and Midgie, were so cute!

^ I really like Seth and Granny and Granddad. Seth always seemed like a great stepdad and was so good to the kids. It was sweet how he was the only one Karen thought she could talk to who would understand in Karen's Birthday. ;D

^Well, a man who would go to his wife's ex-husband's cat's funeral would have to be pretty decent. ;D

I'm actually kind of glad they didn't have a baby together. The way everyone in these books seemed to get married and have a baby within a year or so kind of grated on my nerves. Lisa I think wanted to make sure her marriage with Seth had a strong foundation before she brought another child into the world. After all, she got divorced from Karen and Andrew's father when the kids were still very, very young. It was probably not a situation she wanted to find herself in twice, with joint custody of yet another pre-schooler. I could picture them having a baby together in a few years, maybe.

^ Agree about being glad. I just think that two kids were enough anyway (but that's just me) ;D Good points, scrounge, that I hadn't thought of but agree with.
