Jessi: Keisha was my best friend, and my cousin. We were born on the same day and lived on the same street and saw each other every day. Then I moved a couple of states away and spoke to her three times in the next twelve years. Haha! So true. In Happy Holidays, Jessi, Jessi's so excited to see Keisha again, but it seems to come out of nowhere since Jessi never talks about her. It's funny how Stacey and Dawn's other best friends made appearances and were at least mentioned a few times throughout the series. We can't say that for poor Keisha. I like the idea of a Claudia/Dawn friendship. In the earlier books, when Stacey was back in NY, the two seemed to be getting closer since Dawn would stay behind after meetings. Not to mention the whole getting stranded on the island thing. You'd think this would bring them together, but apparently not... I also like the idea of a closer Kristy/Stacey friendship. They're so different from each other, but I think they both admire the other - Kristy admires Stacey for being so sophisticated, and I think Stacey looks up to Kristy for being the presidenty, in-charge type. It's never explicitly stated, but I've always got the impression of a certain amount of respect for one another between them.

^ I wonder if Keisha and Jessi's past life isn't featured as much as Dawn and Stacey's because they still have "ties" with their fathers being in NY and CA. Maybe Jessi does talk about her but the books just don't make a big deal of it (though that doesn't help us understand the relationship, then ;D) Agree, though, that more of a relationship would be nice. I liked it how Keisha came to the ballet in Secret Language. Never thought of Kristy/Stacey but that would be a good friendship. I think they actually have more in common than they think.

I't like to have seen more Sam/Charlie. They seemed to be pretty good friends, but we didn't see them together much except in SS#8.

Sort of random, but I would've liked to have seen Logan and Ben be friends. I don't know how much they really interacted, but I think a friendship between them would've been cute. They're a lot a like - both sweet and sensitive (well, Ben is, whether or not Logan is, that's up for debate); also, they fight over irrational things with their girlfriends and have sexy accents. It would've been cool to see them hang out.

Never thought of this possible friendship but would also like it. They're two of my favorite BSC boyfriends. I think Ben and Logan actually have a lot in common (though I just realized this after reading this post). In addition to what you mentioned, Fluffycakes, both of them are pretty new to Stoneybrook and good with kids (which is one thing that I really like about both of them.)

A double date between Ma/Logan and Mal/Ben would be really fun to read about! I'd love to read about MA/Mal interacting outside of the club, it's one of those random pairings that never pops up in books and really MA/Mal have a lot in common and I'm surprised they aren't closer.

I agree with pretty much everything that's been posted on this thread, especially re: the relationships between the club members themselves. But there's one that's always bothered me and hasn't been mentioned yet - Mary Anne and Jeff. It's been a long time since I read #30, but I don't even remember reading MA's thoughts on how she would feel about having Jeff as a brother. I know they didn't really get on in Family Feud, but I think that had more to do with the Schafers vs Spiers thing than anything else. Anyone remember any interesting scenes involving these two?

^ All I remember is when he went off on her when she found the note saying he wanted to go back to CA. I hadn't ever thought of this relationship but you're right that it would have been interesting. MA always seemed pretty indifferent towards Jeff but he was pretty rotten in books like Family Feud, especially to Richard. Too bad they didn't develop this relationship more. Interesting possibilities.

Kristy and Stacy. They didn't really have much in common but they were HILARIOUS in European Vacation!

^ Their scenes are some of my favorites in that one. Agree their relationship has a lot of potential - maybe because they are so different.

The unlikely friendships are often the most interesting, and baffling...I should know, given my collection of friends!

definitely stacey and mallory--i already feel like mallory looks up to her as the "sophisticated" 13 year old she aspires to be.
also, i know kristy and watson were mentioned, and i just wanted to point out the time in the shadow lake SS at the end where kristy was really psyched on watson referring to her as his "daughter" and writes him a thank you note signed, "your daughter kristy". awww.

^ I really liked Stacey and Mal in Mystery Diary. I think Stacey could have been good for Mallory, teaching her how to have self-esteem, and Mallory is a very loyal friend, which I think Stacey needs because her being "too cool" is really a lot of insecurity with fitting in coming out. I love Kristy and Watson's relationship. Wish they would have developed Dawn and Richard's more.

^I can see Dawn and Richard having a harder time bonding and becoming friendly than Kristy and Watson did. Kristy and Watson have more in common, and Richard can be a little standoffish, even though we know he means very well.

^That, and I would have thought that Dawn would have more trouble adjusting to Richard as a sudden second father figure, given that her parents were divorced not even a year before Sharon let Richie move in. It seemed off to me, like Dawn is all upset about her dad getting remarried to Carol, but she wasn't upset at all about Richard? I know I wouldn't be too happy at some guy who's sleeping with my mom telling me what to do, especially if it wasn't at all what my real, still living, father would say.
Kristy would adjust faster, her parents were separated far longer than Dawn's were.
