I'm not a big fan of Sharon and Richard. I like Richard much,MUCH more with Alma. I'm planning to write a fan fic about Richard and MA,with Alma, who didn't die from cancer.

^ It does sound interesting but I guess I just don't know enough about Richard with Alma to know if I like them together or not. I feel bad speaking ill of the dead (and it's probably just because I don't know anything about her ) but Alma always seems a bit boring to me. Maybe it's just because she's "idealized" (that's not the word but hopefully you know what I mean ;D) as a memory instead of remembered as a "real" person. I do really like Sharon, though, and love her interaction with Richard. I think she brings out his lighter, gentler side.

I know what you mean about not knowing enough about Richard and Alma together. Alma sounded like an interesting person, though, I like her. She made a delicious chocolate cherry cake and liked the Rolling Stones.

I would have been interested to know how she and Richard met and fell in love. I believe she told Mary Anne in her letter to her, but the book (I think it was Mary Anne and the Secret of the Attic) never went into specifics.

I know! Like, did they meet in Connecticut? Iowa? Somewhere else? I'm really curious about their story.

Chocolate cherry cake sounds delicious. I like Alma already. Didn't she make applesauce cake as well?

I figured that Sharon didn't keep in touch with her old girlfriends andgot sidetracked with real life. From the sounds of it there was a small gap between college and marriage, so perhaps her parents were more willing to come to her? Espically once she had Dawn and Jeff.

How realistic for a Vegetarian person married to non Vegetarian person? A vegetarian person will tell them, to eat healthy food. A non vegetarian person will tell them, to eat meat or junk food.

Well, neither vegetarians not non-vegetarians will automatically eat healthily or unhealthily. You can be married without eating the same things all the time as well.

It's not a relationship but my best friend is a vegetarian. I've eaten meat in front of her without a lecture. We just eat what we eat. She also doesn't just eat healthy, she eats junk food. Not all vegetarians are at the Schafer level.
I thought Sharon handled that well. It was Richard who kept offering her meat...rude much? I mean he hated her healthy ideas but he could push the meat thing? I remember him getting offended at the wedding and I just rolled my eyes.

My old friend is a vegetarian and her fiance is not. It works out fine. She doesn't tell him what to eat and he doesn't try to tell her to eat meat either. My friend also doesn't cook him anything with meat, but she's fine with him storing it in the fridge. He's also not a prick like Richard and MA are about vegetarian food (making faces and noises at it) and he'll try some of her fake chicken or vegan brownies (she's not completely vegan but I know she tries to cut out as much animal product as possible since she's training to be a vet).

We sometimes joke around (I tell her she's eating the animal's food and she jokes that I'm a killer, but it's really all in good fun). There's no judgement and she'll eat sweets. I also don't try to get her to eat meat, ever. One time, I made the mistake of offering her eggs, but I didn't know that she didn't eat eggs. (I know some vegetarians will eat them. She actually will eat stuff with egg products, just not omelets or scrambled eggs.) Dawn was also not 100% vegetarian. She ate chicken tacos in one book, meatballs in another....Sharon also had chicken tacos.
