She always gets lumped together with Emily in my mind but I just read about her without any mention of Emily in Claudia and the Terrible Truth. In that one, she calls Claudia because she figures out the Nicholls boys are being abused when she is sitting for them. Then she goes to a BSC meeting later so they can all talk about what happened with the Nicholls. I liked Erica in this book and wish that I knew more about her as her own character - separate from the Erica/Emily combo I have mentally created. Is Erica the one who tells Stacey that Robert is cheating in Ex Boyfriend (or at least says he was with another girl at the mall) Is she the one who is originally in MA's group in MA Misses Logan? What other books is she mentioned in?

I think it's emily who tells stacey that robert was cheating. Erica plays a big role in the FF series as she pretty much replaces Stacey as claud's bff.

Yup, it was Emily. And Miranda Shillaber was the original member of Mary Anne's group.

I remember having a vague sense of finding Erica kind of irritating, but I don't remember why. To me she somehow came off as being sort of loud and annoying and drawing attention to herself, but a lot of that is probably just one of those random association things without much to do with the actual books. I think she shows up in classes a lot when they need a non-BSC someone to make a comment, kind of like the female Pete Black--I'm pretty sure she's the one who gets offended about the girls being "used up" in the Modern Living class, for example. And Abby thinks it's hysterically funny that Erica once said her mom composted her homework as her explanation for why she hadn't done it.

^ I don't remember that. What book was it in? For some reason, I always pictured Erica as sort of quiet. But I have never read the FF series so she might be different in those. I also admit that I don't remember much about her from the main series.

I think that was the Awards Night thingy at SMS in Kristy and the Missing Child.

^ Thanks. I haven't read that one for a while so might have to now. It's one of my favorites anyway.

I liked Erica because she reminded me of someone I would have actually gone to school with, even her name, one of my best friends in middle school's last name was Blumberg, and I knew quite a few Ericas. The names in the BSC where always the hardest for me to accept, I think I mentioned this before, but why did most of the little girls seem to have such "adult" names (Karen? Nancy? Marilyn? etc.) Where where all the Katelyn's of various spellings? And whywhere there not a million Jennifers and Heather's in the 8th grade? Besides her name, I always though Erica tended to act more like an actual 8th grader than most of the other characters did. C

^ Totally agree with the name thing. I guess I really need to read more about Erica since she didn't make that much of an impression on me. What books is she mentioned in?

I just read in MA in the Middle when they are discussing a replacement for Mal and someone suggests Erica. Stacey says that Erica bugs her and Claudia says that Erica seems like a know it all (or something to that effect). This seemed strange after Erica came to the meeting and appeared to be friends with them in Terrible Truth. Also, don't her and Claud become good friends later? I guess Claudia changes her perspective. They do also mention Emily as a possible replacement at the same time and seem to like this idea but think she's too busy. Maybe they got Emily and Erica confused (the authors, I mean ;D)? Anyone else notice this?

i don't think they mixed up emily and erica--emily really does seem too busy to be in the bsc. the ghostwriter probably just didn't know about erica coming to the meeting in c & t t.

Could it be another case of the ghostwriters needing to do their homework? Not a chance ;D

I really liked Erica in the FF books. I actually felt sorry for her when Claud kept talking about Stacey (and even called her "Stacey"). I also liked Erica's subplot about the search for her biological parents. I'm glad the writers developed her character more.

^ Erica was adopted? I had no idea. I really need to break down and force myself to adapt to "change" and read the FF series, I guess. ;D
