Mine was probably Marnie Drabek. Her messy, clutzy cooking style was so endearing to me. I don't know. I just took a shine to her. Her loving broccoli pizza was just too awesome! A Mathlete, an artist. Her life just seemed really eventful. She's just really interesting.

I'd like to add Cary Retlin and Jamie Newton to my list! I've read way more with Cary in them, so I can add him to being a favorite. I hadn't really read but the Haunted Masquerade one with him in it, so before I didn't really remember him. I always loved Jamie! Especially now that I work with kids his age every day, I find him realistic for the age.

I would have to say Alan because he was involved with the sitters in some of the books. The relationship between him and Kristy was too funny.

I really wish they had explored the option of liking each other more, but it didn't really come up past the first 12 books. I thought it was weird that they really just ignored it later. Alan started to become more sensitive in FF and started dating Claudia... Defiantly prefer Alan and Kristy.

I liked Alan until they made him all sensitive and needy. I thought the relationship with Claudia was horrible! She treated him so badly, and if it had been the other way around he would have gotten the same abuser label that Logan sometimes gets. I did really like the mutual desire to annoy each other that Alan and Kristy had, though. It was never truly mean spirited on either end.

I thought Alan and Claudia were interesting. I can see Kristy and Alan maybe "rediscovering" each other senior year or something. I don't think I would go as far as saying Claudia was like Logan--she didn't tell him to do these things. I do think that Claudia being so self-conscious about being with Alan was kind of out of character for her. I don't see Claudia and Alan lasting very long, but I think they would remain friends.

I think if Alan had been embarrassed by Claudia and tried to hide his relationship with her then he would have been labeled as a POS. I've never seen Claudia take any heat for her behavior and I say this as a big Claudia fan.

I don't like her behavior either, but I think Logan's behavior raises serious red flags. I don't think that being embarrassed can be compared to the way Logan acts is Mary Anne vs. Logan, or how he does when they break up for good in FF. But I also have personal baggage in this area as a survivor of an abusive relationship, so I am not going to give Logan the benefit of the doubt in this area because to me it reads like WHOA. I also don't think Claudia/Alan is discussed as often since it's at the end of FF, which is not all that popular to begin with.
I do think that it is normal for middle school years to be self-conscious and more consumed with how your peers see you than you would as an adult, though, and I could see WHY Claudia would be embarrassed to be seen with Alan, even if I think she was in wrong.

^For me it seemed like Claudia also felt really bad about being embarrassed about Alan. It also seemed that even though she felt like she should tell him she didn't like him to begin with, he insisted that she at least gave him a chance. While I cannot see them ever really lasting, I think it is pretty realistic for someone who has already had trouble with guys, to give him a chance when he was being so sweet to her!

My favourite...I usually focused on the characters I didn't like, because I was so outraged on the narrator's behalf. Like pretty much every sixth-grader besides Mallory, Jessi and Ben Hobart. And most of the teachers. Take Mr Zorzi in book #40. Oh, so the cheater has to be the girl who isn't good at math, and you don't need any proof to stick it on her permanent record. Stupid teachers. But like whoever it was who started this thread said, yes, Janine is awesome.

I like Sunny, Janine (I thought it was so cute she saved a little balloon for Emily Michelle to play with), and Stacey's mom was awesome in the book where she dates the writer guy.
