I scanned the whole list and didn't see a thread for this one yet. Sorry if I missed it. Anyway. I've decided that Karen's Super Specials are really neither super nor special. I've read so much about how this one was so cool because it coincided with Snowbound, but you couldn't tell at all. Karen said something like "It snowed so much last night that we had a snow day" and that was literally the only connection to the other book. I wanted to hear her take on Bart spending the night. Other thoughts: Karen was mean for replacing David Michael as her detective partner. He looked gigantic in all the illustrations. I wonder what the neighbor kids did with all the light bulbs they stole.

and that was literally the only connection to the other book. Emily Jr.'s ratnapping!! I would have liked to have seen Bart mentioned as well.

I read Karen's Mystery before Snowbound so I thought that the snowstorm that was mentioned in that book was different than the one in Snowbound. But when I found out that Snowbound and Karen's Mystery were linked together, I was like, why did this snowstorm only get one sentence in Karen's Mystery? And it would've been hilarious to read about Karen's take on Bart spending the night ;D.

Is it possible she wasn't all that aware? Did he get stuck there late enough in the evening that Karen might have been in bed?

In Snowbound Karen makes Bart laugh at one point during dessert. I think everyone discusses Bart sleeping over sort of during that or at least while the little kids are still up.

Wasn't Karen at breakfast the next morning when Kristy got all dressed up for Bart? The power went out the night before too. Both things would have been funny to read about.
Hannie and Nancy came over the next day. Logan was trekking around on skis across town, but somehow Nancy's parents thought it was fine weather to drive around in.

I liked the bulb mystery part of it and the fun activities in the book.

This book is funny - it's always been one of my favorites. Karen says if she ever becomes an actress her stage name will be Katerina Natalia. Doesn't she say the same thing in another book? Karen's Cartwheel, maybe. The day Karen and Andrew arrived at the Big House, and everyone was decorating always sounded really nice to me. I'm sad Christmas is over. I also liked when the family is gathered by the fireplace and Watson is reading aloud to them. Karen's gift to Elizabeth: a carrot peeler. I hope David Michael felt really guilty for letting his family search the entire house for nothing. Natalie brings her new mouse Delroy to Show and Share and Karen just bursts into tears, saying Emily Jr. is "at large." lol. I wonder if Randall and PJ Rivers were twins or what? And agreed about DM looking gigantic - he is sooo not that tall.

A carrot peeler isn't that bad a gift, especially from a seven-year-old. It's practical, although they probably had a couple of them already.

Karen gets it for her because she says she didn't have one...I think it's cute.

I haven't read this book in awhile, but I do agree that hearing Karen's take on Bart staying over would have been extremely entertaining.
I think Karen getting the carrot peeler was cute. It would be the type of gift I would give my mom when I was younger. I remember being so excited the first time I bought my family gifts for Christmas with my own money.

Wonder why Elizabeth didn't have one. Not that strange an item!
