"Most Realistic Mysteries" would probably have been a better title for this post in terms of grammar, but in my experience, no mystery that eighth graders solve can be particularly realistic.
Anyway, in the past few days I've read two mysteries for the first time (The Mystery at Claudia's House and Stacey and the Stolen Hearts) and I liked them more than I remember liking BSC mysteries as a kid. I think it had something to do with the fact that those two have more plausible plots than a lot of the other mysteries the BSC manages to unravel. What other mysteries do you guys think aren't entirely unrealistic?

I think "Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty HOuse" was pretty realistic. (I read this title wrong initially and thought we were listing the LEAST realistic mysteries...I picked "Claudia and the Clue in the Photograph". )

Stacey and the Haunted Masquerade is another one that takes place at SMS, and is pretty plausible.
Stacey and the Missing Ring doesn't sound too far-fetched, either.

I don't think Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty House is plausible, just because the Johanssens are pretty on top of things. Natalie Barrett, Sharon Spier... they'd forget that kind of thing, but not the responsible Johanssens.

Kristy and the Cat Burglar comes to mind as one of the least unrealistic.

I think I meant that the idea of housesitting and getting scared and thinking someone had broken in was realistic. You make a good point about the Johanssens, though!

I didn't really like the Mystery at Claudia's House. If Janine was really smart, she would've just looked up how to make-up and bought herself more clothes and stuff.

^ But it was a nice sisterly moment between her and Claudia when Claudia taught her how to do her hair and makeup. I always like that part.

If Janine was really smart, she would've just looked up how to make-up and bought herself more clothes and stuff. Not necessarily. Being book smart isn't the same as being fashionable or being able to do things that aren't related to intellectual activities. And I think Janine had lots of trouble with art (I remember that from FF SS 1-Everything Changes), so seeing fashion and makeup as art forms, well naturally Janine would have had trouble with those things. I have only read this mystery and the one with Mary Anne and the bookstore that's haunted (can't remember the exact title) but I found The Mystery at Claudia's House pretty realistic. Pretty dumb of Claud not to figure it out (though typical )and it annoys me how the girls laughed at Mal when she guessed the truth. I, too, loved the sisterly interaction between Janine and Claud.

Mallory and the Ghost Cat and the Mystery at Claudia's House were the first two I thought of.
