I think Natalie is much prettier than Karen ever was. Just compare them in books like Karen's Doll Hospital and Karen's Tea Party.

I really liked Natalie too. She was cute. I felt sorry for her, and I don't know why Anne couldn't give the kid a break. Let's face it- Karen isn't that cute.

Especially not the way she's drawn in the later books. The early ones, up to the mid-20s or so, she looks totally different than later on.

Karen looked totally cute in the early books when she didn't have glasses, but then... she was Mallory-ed I guess?

I liked Karen in the very later books... she looked her age... and cute... especially 110s to the end. Around book 8- mid twenties...she just did NOT look 7. But... I always thought Natalie was cute

I never got the impression that we were supposed to think Karen was cute. It was beaten into our heads that Emily Michelle was the most adorable thing ever, and I think Andrew was supposed to be a cute little boy. Karen? Her appearance was never mentioned as far as I can remember. Maybe they felt it was best not to talk about it.

I never got the impression either that Karen was cute, Emily Michelle yes but Karen, no. Natalie seemed like a nice kid if someone would have given her a chance.

Natalie seemed like a sweet kid. She was just misunderstood.

Somehow I expect Natalie came into her own when she was a lot older.

She was just a little socially awkward. Sometimes you can't shake your reputation no matter how you try. To Ms. Colman's class she was always going to be the droopy-socked girl who snorted when she cried. Maybe with a fresh start in middle or high school she'd be more confident.

I wonder if she stuck with the violin, longterm. She'd just begun when she played for Karen and Ricky in #15.

I liked Natalie. I felt bad for her since it seemed like nothing went her way.

She was so sweet, and I felt proud of her in KIMCC "Second Grade Baby".
