I'm pretty sure she did.

She wrote a lot. Jon Merrill's site doesn't have a ghostwriter posted until #68. That was published December 1995, so she must have kept going with the LS books after she handed the BSC over to ghostwriters.

Really. I mean there millions of names out there. They were probably Ann's favorite names.

Okay, so the Little Sister books have this great internal snark thing going that I never noticed when I was six. Karen's obsession with performing at the mall (complete with fantasies of Watson crying tears of pride), her description of herself as a "working woman," and several instances of contradiction ("We should make 40 posters!...We made three." "I can't eat anything ... I ate corn, fish, salad, and ice cream, but that was all.") all made me laugh but in an awesome way, not the "Karen sucks" way of the regular series. I think I have a crush on Ann M. Martin.

I always thought all those examples were hugely funny when I was a kid! Especially Karen wanting to make a lot of posters and then the next sentence: "We made three." Hahaha.

Karen wanting to name the doll Petrolia was funny to me because there was a small town near where I grew up called Petrolia. So it reminded me of that.
I liked how there were a few good lessons for kids in this book. 1) You don't have to excel at everything you do. Just have fun. 2) If you want something, you have to work hard and pay for it yourself.
People were asking whether this book was ghost written or written by Ann -- and Ann wrote it herself.

I thought Morbidda Destiny was really nice to Karen in this book, like always

I think if they'd wanted to, Karen could have ended up having a really good relationship with Mrs. Porter.

^ I agree! That would have been fun to see. But then it would ruin the whole "a scary witch lives next door" plot which is a huge BSC/Little Sister crutch. What would Karen have to talk about anymore? haha.

And don't you love Miss Doovan's poodle being called Station Wagon? I have to wonder what story would have been behind that!

^ Personally, think that's a stupid name for an animal. I probably tried to ignore it when reading this book.

^ sooner or later she will be standing outside yelling "come inside, station wagon!" and the neighbors will think she's an idiot and she will deserve it for picking such a dumb name. I never have found out exactly what an Orange Julius is. Anyone? alton brown has a recipe for orange julius, and i've always wanted to try it but i'm too lazy. www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/orange-delicious-recipe/index.html
