^What is spinning plates? I just reread this as Boo Boo had mentioned recently and I've been reading some of the Big House books together. I tend to prefer the Little House LS books for the closer-ness that we see of that family. Then, I remember one of my very, very favorite LS books is Karen's Gifts. I love Watson in that and how he is there for Karen with her dog walking and when she needs help, sweet moments. Back to this book, I already forgot what does BF stand for? I am not a fan of animal acts circuses but I will say glad to see those in this book were cared for. Lulu the pony sounded sweet and loved the three elephants. Oh and the escaped poodle Monty from his bath made me smile to think of Louie. Not one of my favorite LS books but better this time around. Oh and I still would have enjoyed hearing from one of Nannie's or for that matter Watson and Elizabeth's friends who came to Nannie's party. Did like how all the kids planned it.

This one was odd. I think by this time they were running out of ideas.

This was like the halfway point in the LS series, wasn't it? I forget how much books Karen ended up with, at least 100.
This was the book that inspired Karen and her friends to act like snotty brats at the BSC camp in Mary Anne and Camp BSC. Because they all went to a REAL circus camp and were therefore better than everyone else.
I did read this one as a kid but I remember absolutely nothing. Don't they bring Nannie to the circus for her birthday or something?

I liked the 4th of July part since we don’t get much of that holiday mentioned. I think it’s because everyone’s celebrations are usually pretty similar year to year. Eat, watch some fireworks, the end. Watson called the police to see if he could shut down the road in front of the house and they were all “yeah, sure.” There are sidewalks for a reason. The kids had a hot dog eating contest where Karen ate 3.5 hotdogs and then started barking. There is an unfortunate picture of her eating that I’m surprised virgoscorpio didn’t comment on. 😀 The family was trying to be so secretive by having everyone but Emily keep meeting up in Kristy’s room. That is totally not suspicious. I’m glad that Karen told Nannie about the party. No one should be uncomfortable on their birthday of all days. Watson also rented out the entire bowling alley. He was showing subtle rich power in this book. There was a sign on the door that said “closed for private party.” Um, Nannie was going to see that when she got there. I wasn’t really interested in the circus camp. I liked that Hannie picked to ride the pony bareback for the exhibition. It kept up with the theme that she was good with horses.
