I liked this one, but am having trouble recalling much... they were having a candy selling contest?

Yeah it was supposed to be a candy sale to raise money for idk what but Karen, Hannie and Nancy turned it into a contest by battling with Pamela, Jannie and Leslie to see who could sell the most candy. This is the book where Karen punches Pamela or something along the lines of that. It was so hilarious ;D.

Karen punching Pamela was pretty fun to read about. It was odd that they got the same punishment for it. How would you like that call from the principal? "Hello, Mrs. Harding? Just calling to tell you that your daughter Pamela wouldn't share a swing on the playground so she can't march in the Halloween parade."
"Oh, glad you called, I understand that someone punched my kid in the face and I was hoping the school was handling this matter seriously."
"We are! The girl won't be able to march in the Halloween parade."
"So you're telling me that my kid gets the same punishment for not giving someone else a turn on a swing that she was playing on as she would for punching someone in the face?"
"That's right, glad you understand! Don't forget our school fundraiser just around the corner!" *click*
It annoyed me that when Ms. Colman kept the whole class in at recess until someone told who hit Pamela, "all the boys" stood up and tattled on her in unison. That's just weird.
And why did the candy sales between the two groups of friends have to end up in another tie? Seriously, every time Karen, Hannie, and Nancy got into a contest with Pamela, Leslie, and Jannie, it ended with either Karen's group winning or a tie. Okay, so Pamela personally sold one more bag of candy than Karen, but still. Couldn't we have seen a situation where Karen and her friends aren't better than Pamela and her friends at something and they deal with it?

I agree. Karen slugging Pamela was the highlight of the book. When I first read I was thinking "it's about time!" I was also surprised that Pamela refused to tell on Karen.

I remember being so suprised when Karen slapped Pamela when I first read it. I couldn't believe Pamela didn't tell on Karen either, it seemed like the thing she would do. When thinking about it, Karen should have gotten a slightly harsher punishment than Pamela because she did slug her and all Pamela did was not share a swing.

^ I totally don't remember all that, lol. Sometimes I feel bad for Pamela, Karen pretty much always wins one over her, and sure, Pam can be a bit snobby, but maybe it's because Karen is such a bragger. Who knows?

I really liked how they shared the ghost? costume and secretly marched together in the Halloween parade anyway. It was cute, and I liked how they planned it out to be a costume that would be sure to not win a prize, and also would completely disguise them.

Okay, read it, I actually had stopped after chapter three. So, Karen slugging Pamela was awesome! I don't know whether it was because you guys had talked about it or what, but it was cool. I liked that Karen and Pam worked together though, the picture of them ttalking behind the tree was cute.

^I always thought that was a cute picture as well. I always liked the rare moments in the LS books where Karen and Pamela actually got along.

I like that Karen and Pamela dressed up as a ghost and snuck off to the party. I'm surprised that Pamela didn't tell on Karen, either. I would have expected her to do that.
