Wow, Kathy and Nicole are awful. Fifth-graders threatening to beat up a second-grade girl who's in a wheelchair? Ugh.

^ I never thought of that I have read this book many times and never cared for Kathy and Nicole's threats that I believe were spoken more than once. I wish Karen and Addie had told someone! I understand that they were intimidated by the bigger girls but the message to readers would have been better if one of them had shared with an adult. I did enjoy how Karen and Addie, different pairing and one that I enjoyed much more than in Karen's New Friend, did work together in this one. I just think whoever wrote this story could have, if even at the end had Lisa or Addie's mom or even Ms. Colman tell the girl's that they should have come to them right away.

I thought it was cool that this book was true to the message of Karen's New Friend, bringing back Addie as a good friend and having her wheelchair acknowledged but not focused on or made a big deal out of.

I enjoyed this book..except for a couple of things. If Karen were really afraid of how ppl would react to her reporting them, all she had to do is tell a teacher about the threats. Also, saying she and Addie had something very important to do on duty (which was technically true) would have been better than asking Nancy to lie for her..although I didn't expect Addie's explanation to backfire the way it did. Nicole and Kathy were the worst, though. I loved the part at the end where Karen is congratulated for her performance on those tests.

I don't understand why Karen and Addie were punished. They weren't the crooks! Yes they lied but it was for the greater good and I did not see any of the teachers trying to catch them. And why didn't Karen tell someone that the crooks threatened them? Especially a girl in a wheelchair? The crooks were nasty and should have been punished for stealing too.

This has my favorite line of the series in it. Regarding her haircut from Gloriana’s: I looked like a squirrel. Perfect.
I’m not sure why they had to nominate and vote for hall patrol. (“Red Brigade” is so dramatic!) They said they couldn’t do it twice, so eventually everyone was going to get a turn and they would run out of students. Cut the drama, Ms. Colman, and draw two names out of a hat.
Leslie was a little biyotch suggesting that Addie couldn’t do it because of her wheelchair.
I was surprised that Karen was immediately so lax on the hall rules. She had the ability to look ahead and know that the big kids would kill her a month later. Plus, she had kindergarten groupies, lol.
Kathy was unhinged! Ms. Colman caught her red handed, so she got mad and chucked the stolen eraser at Addie. Then she tried to get Karen and Addie fired because they caught her stealing when they should have been patrolling the halls. She was a little old, but I would have liked to see some of the BSC have to deal with her.
I want to know what was up with the landscaping at this school that Karen and Addie and Addie’s wheelchair were able to hide behind one bush.
OMG the dramatic badge ceremonies. I don’t know why the parents came when the kids were giving up their badges rather than when they were being pinned. My parents would have not wasted their time. Lisa was crying with pride, lol.
Nancy got a pageboy haircut. Image searching shows me a wide variety of not at all similar hair styles, but I’m getting that it’s a bob with bangs. Nancy wanted to look older. That seems younger to me.
This had a lot of focus on the “2AT” standardized tests but no real payoff. Karen placed as one of the highest in the class. I remember doing these kinds of tests a few times. I think they’re controversial now?
