It was refreshing that Karen wasn't good at something for once, and Andrew was. I wish he could have won his competition though. Keegan and Karen were cute I'm surprised Karen didn't think of Ricky...

Ricky didn't even get a mention!

I also liked that Andrew was good at something that Karen wasn't. I liked reading about Karen and Keegan's friendship and the activities they did.

Andrew looks really cute on the cover. I felt bad for him that he got injured before he could race. I think that my favourite part of the book was when the Brewers and Thomases had family day and all made a family out of snow.

^I agree Virgo. I also loved that Andrew got to shine. I thought it was awful on the ghostie's part to have had him be seriously injured. I also have to say Elizabeth really does sometimes come across as a better parent in the LS than BSC. It was her idea for the indoor breakfast picnic in this and I think she even went Skiing or did some snow related activity with David Michael. Then there is the typical Emily having a cold and Nannie baby-sitting her while the others are outside on the slopes. I know Nannie said she thought she was too old and Emily too young to ski but surely once Emily was better, she could have enjoyed playing a little in the snow, yet all she did was stay in the lodge with Nannie, something she could have done in Stoneybrook! I think that also bothers me a little more now that I have read Karen's School where Emily actually interacted with Sari and finally (IMO) had some personality of her own. It would have been nice to read about her doing something at Shadow Lake. Yes, I know she took many walks with Claudia and Andrew at SL in the super special. I meant maybe there could have been one other young toddler for her to play with in this even for a few minutes. I know that is getting sort of off topic! I much preferred Karen's Snow Day as a LS wintry book and leave it at that.

You know, I've read this book a half-dozen times and it has just now occurred to me to wonder why David Michael wasn't taking skiing lessons with Karen and Andrew. Did he already know how to ski? Elizabeth the overworked single mom had taken her kids skiing before but Watson the millionaire hadn't taken his?

Wow. This book is actively cheering me up. I burst out laughing at certain things, I love how the plot isn't (yet) contrived, and Karen seems to be fairly in-character here.
Also, it doesn't hurt that it's humid as usual and I'm jealous of Karen for being able to go on holiday. The ski resort sounds wonderful, all homelike and cosy!
New favourite BSC book, I think.
I agree that Andrew definitely needs more screen time to be awesome at things, but I also felt sorry for Karen.

This is my first time, reading this book. I enjoyed reading this book. I'm shock, that Karen didn't mention about Ricky. The lodge, sounds like a nice dream lace to stay at. I'll love to visit that lodge. It was nice, Andrew was good at skiing. I agreed. They should had Emily Michelle, played with other kids or played outside, in the snow for a while. After her cold was better. I give this a four stars. I rent this book, from the library.

I'm surprised that Karen quit skiing after one day and that none of the family intervened and made her keep going. It was uncharacteristic of Kristy to not give a pep talk and a one-on-one lesson. I liked how Sam was obsessed with snowboarding.
Andrew didn't strike me as particularly athletic, so I loved that he was a little ski demon. The scene where he was hurt was strange. Karen and Keegan managed to rent skis, put them on (kids take forever at that stuff), ride the lift up, and Andrew was still just lying in the snow. Sam had to go get the ski patrol. The instructors don't have radios?
I liked the chapter with Jessica and the vending machine. The machine stole her money, so Karen gave her more. Then two bags of pretzels popped out instead of one. They were super excited about that. It's like when your thing doesn't drop into the slot, so then the next person who buys that product is going to get two. Vending machines are like carnival games sometimes. You don't know if you're going to get the prize or not, lol.
Karen was super serious about her date with Keegan! She dressed up in monochromatic red. He said she looked like a lollipop, and she decided that was his way of saying that she looked beautiful. Maybe if you are Claudia... There is an illustration of them dancing together. Thankfully there is about three feet of space in between them.

I really love it when Karen is taken down a peg or two. She kept saying Andrew is too little to be any good at skiing and that she'll be excellent at it. But it was the exact opposite and I actually laughed. Why does Karen need to be good at everything??
