Of course Karen gets a pony. I wonder if it's ever mentioned again. Watson is paying for it, so Karen'd wanna keep visiting. And lol at the bad luck ring.

When Karen, Hannie and Nancy went to pony camp and got hazed by the more experienced campers (I know, right? They're 7 & 8 years old.) Karen bragged constantly about having her own pony. For some reason it was being moved from the farm it was living on to the pony camp to live permanently (aka until it croaked). Karen kept telling everyone how she was going to have her very own pony personal pony to ride, until Blueberry was delivered to camp and it dawned on her that her awesome pet was 300 years old and couldn't be ridden any more. I hate the pony camp book.

Okay the best part about this book is the bit where they buy the pony. They're at the yard sale or whatever where Karen gets the stupid pony, and the kids all see a ring they want. Everyone wants this ring, from Charlie on down to Andrew, because the whole family has been dragged along on this little outing. So Elizabeth decides that she will buy the ring, but only if they all promise to share it, and then two pages later Watson buys the pony for Karen. Everyone has to share one cheap costume jewelry ring, and the pony is Karen's and Karen's alone. No wonder the fandom thinks she's spoiled, huh? Oh, and at the end of the book, the other kids decide that Karen can be the sole owner of the ring. Because they all think it's a bad luck ring. Even Charlie and Sam. So Karen gets a pony and the lovely ring.
The worst part of the book is basically everything else that happens in it, because this is a really terrible LS book.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan of this book either and I tend to love all LS books. First off, why on Earth did Watson buy Karen a whole pony but when it came time to get a new bike that she really needed, she had to pay for half of it? And second of all, as a kid, I hated Karen got her own pony (old or not lol) while I only had my two dogs lol ;D.
I don't remember the bad-luck ring lol. Or the Pony Camp, what book was that in?

First off, why on Earth did Watson buy Karen a whole pony but when it came time to get a new bike that she really needed, she had to pay for half of it? Seriously... my cousins all had horses that cost more than my car. Even if this was a cheap old horse at a garage sale, I am sure it was no small purchase, plus the ongoing costs to maintain it!

Elizabeth buys ONE ring for everybody to share? That is crazy.

It's all so crazy. I didn't think of the bike thing, even though I just read it.

I didn't like this book either. This is where Kristy missed two meetings or more. When Charlie broke his hand & when Kristy got the strep throat. Everyone stop the earth. Kristy missed a meeting. Oh, no. What to do?
Karen said Blueberry likes people better than horses. So, why didnt she bring her siblings along, When she visit Blueberry? Have Andrew & Emily Michelle riding on the pony. Kristy, Sam, or Charlie holding on the reins.
They have to share cheap plastic ring. Which everyone didn't like, expect Karen. When they find out it was bad luck. I bet Karen wanted the ring along. Yup, she's spoil brat.

I always found that strange about Watson. Watson was so cheap at times that it was mind-boggling.

This has been touched on very slightly in the posts above, but why wasn't any of the other kids interested in a pony? I find it odd that they all shared a ring whilst Karen was the only one out of 7 kids that wanted a pony. I think it was mention how they all thought the horse was "shabby", but all of those kids love and appreciate animals as much as Karen does, so I find it hard to believe they'd turn down an animal in disgust. And Andrew always seems to want what Karen wants, in typical younger brother fashion. And Emily Michelle wouldn't want a horsey? I know that Watson loves animals, as do Seth and Lisa and Elizabeth, so buying the horse was probably as much about him feeling good about doing something nice for an animal as it was to specifically buy Karen a horse. I just don't see how the horse was specifically Karen's. Talk about Daddy's girl I bought this book on Amazon and paid more for it now than the cost of it when it was initially published. Sigh. This book was meh. Part of it was dealing with this sad horse and the other part was the Thomas kids all getting hurt, injured and sick. This mix of the two was kind of a weird vibe. Anyone else agree?

I didn't care for this book. The plot about the pony was unrealistic, and the sub-plot about the bad-luck ring was kind of silly.
