The thing with the bad luck ring would have been way more believable if it was Karen, Andrew, and David Michael who thought the ring was bad luck. Seventeen-year old Charlie believing that the ring is a bad luck ring is utterly ridiculous.

I was thinking of re-reading this again.

I reread this last night hoping it magically got better. I had not remembered the intensity of Charlie (broken hand), David Michael (dislocated elbow) and even Kristy ( strep throat). Yikes and also what a strange (and awful--for the three involved) extra story-line addition. I would have much preferred reading extra about Karen and Roddie's friendship--to bad they didn't keep in touch. I did smile when Karen told us Blueberry seemed happy to be reunited with his old farm friends---goat--Huckleberry and three chickens. Loved the trio of chicken names,"Annie, Frannie, and Hannie," and that Hannie liked the item of having a chicken namesake.

^ For sure. Hannie, was so proud a chicken having her name.

I was given a copy of this book to replace mine that was ruined, and this time, while I still thought the story was pretty silly, I did think some parts were cute. I liked that Blueberry was reunited with his animal friends from his old farm. I also thought it was funny when Karen was trying to nurse David Michael back to health and he told her she could use the ring if she would leave him alone. Smart thinking on his part! I also noticed that Kristy had to miss multiple BSC meetings in a row, because of Charlie breaking his hand and Kristy getting sick. That wasn't mentioned in the regular series, I don't think. I looked and this book was published five months before Abby joined the club, so I guess Dawn got to be BSC President for a week.

^I was wondering if all the missed meetings were mentioned in a BSC book and didn't think they were. What's funny is I had just read Welcome Back Stacey. In that Dawn is happy to go back to being Alternate officer because there is more variety as she puts it. She specifically tells Kristy that she'd love to be President one day and Kristy smiles and says "not a chance." I'm glad you enjoyed the story a bit more than usual, Scrounge.

Wonder, what the girls did, while Kristy wasn't at the meeting? No Kristy. They probably had a party in Claudia's room.

The ring subplot is so ridiculous. Charlie and Sam wanting to wear the same ring as the little kids do is about as unrealistic as them thinking the ring is bad luck.

I felt bad for the pony. He doesn't like to play with the other horses but he loves humans and hardly anyone has the time for him. Karen tried but it's hard when you don't live on the farm.
And lol at the bad luck ring. There's such a thing called coincidence.
