I think Karen's County Fair is the one where Karen gets to care for a young goat. This isn't one of my favorites, but it is really worth reading.

Just realized this book coincides with SS #13 Aloha Baby-Sitters. Kristy and Mallory are at farm camp while everyone else is in Hawaii... a chapter mentions Tia visiting Karen, and the girls sneak into the Stones house to watch Miracle on 34th street because the girls are on a NYC kick. So apparently Karen goes to Maine in the next book while the entire big house goes to Hawaii...man that sucks.

It was nice that Karen and Ollie didn't win the livestock contest. I liked the trip to NY that Karen took with Tia.

Picked up this book to reread it and was very surprised that it takes place during a Watson's house month, and Tia comes to visit Karen. I absolutely expected it to be a month that they were at Lisa's, because Tia is Granny and Grandad's neighbor from Nebraska, who Karen met in Karen's Plane Trip, and Granny and Grandad are Seth's parents. Tia's parents have never met Watson and Elizabeth yet they send their 7-year old on a plane to stay with them for three weeks? "Hey, where's Tia?" "Oh, she's visiting my neighbor's son's wife's ex-husband's family, she'll be back in August."
I felt a little bad for Karen when she entered Ollie in the fair and basically got laughed out of the judging ring. But maybe she shouldn't have been so stubborn when everyone kept telling her that Ollie wouldn't win and she should join one of the other groups. Even Tia tried to tell her, several times.

^ I agreed. She should have tried the other groups. Sure Ollie is cute. But, he just a lamb. He took off, when she took off the halter from the lamb. She learn the hard way. Mrs. Stone, told her, if she was really sure, to enter Ollie in the contest. So did everyone else.
I love reading this. Going to the fair on my Birthday. It was so much fun. We haven't been to a fair in long time. So, I want reread this book again.

I love rereading this book again.
Karen, should ask Tia, what she wanted to do. Instead of thinking, she wanted to see the farm.
If, I was spending the night, in the country. The people go to suburbs/city cause they think, I'll be homesick, not seeing the suburbs/city. I'll be sicken tired of it.

They picked the most random group of kids for this Farm Camp. The Three Musketeers, Bobby, Pamela, Ricky, and Chris from Ms. Colman's class, three kids from Karen's gymnastics class, Charlotte Johannsen, and "Cordelia." Pamela wanted to farm (?!), Charlotte was without Becca, none of the Pikes were there even though Mallory was helping... it's like they picked some names out of a hat.
They made poor Tia sound like the biggest hillbilly. Karen had A/C and potato chips. I do understand not wanting to do the same exact stuff that she had to do day in and day out at home. The mall chapter was cute. Malls in the 90s were the coolest thing ever. There were always random, weird things going on like the puppet show that they went to.
I laughed how Karen was all "If you want my honest opinion..." and then gave an unsolicited diss to the group's brownies. Charlie and his friends said "If you want my honest opinion" a lot, and she thought it sounded grown up.
Ok, the final brownies sounded gross. They decorated them to look like hamburgers, lol, with gobs of chocolate frosting and almonds on top and bottom to look like sesame seed buns. They did not win a prize.
