So, took me 33 minutes and 53 seconds just to read this book in one day. I notices now, that Karen and David Michael, was having competition. Of who had better day in school. They were both bragging about it. Like showing off. Karen, was sure, her classmates was going to win. But they have lost, but got computer for their classroom.

I noticed it ended with Karen and David Michael still mad at each other and not speaking to in another. I thought they usually wrapped up the loose ends in these books but not this time.
I thought David Michael and Watson bonding was sweet despite Karen's jealousy. David Michael doesn't remember having a dad around so I think it's good for him to build a relationship with Watson.

So Karen gets all bent out of shape because her father and David Michael are bonding over computers? She doesn't need to be centre of attention all the time. The world does not revolve around Karen. She doesn't need to butt in either.

School Stars sounded like Double Dare with some trivia. I was a little intimidated by their practice packet, lol. These were average 7-year-olds, right? I was actually surprised that the class didn’t win. Camp Outer Space could have been a book all on its own. (Karen’s Astronaut? Karen’s Trip to the Moon?)
I loved all of the computer talk. David Michael was learning about CD-ROMs. I just learned like 2 weeks ago that most computers don’t come with disc drives anymore!? Karen’s fancy private school had a Computer Lab with 3 computers in 1996. My low-budget public elementary school had at least a dozen in 1992. Get with it, Stoneybrook Academy. Karen wanted to play Solitaire (the best, especially when you could pick your card design). The “funny noises” of dial-up Internet. Instant messaging. This ruled.
The TV studio had pink walls with gray carpet. The studio woman wore a gray suit and a pink blouse. On taping day Karen picked a gray jumper, gray tights, and a pink turtleneck. They were really embracing this Golden Girls color scheme.
David Michael was mad and started listing all of the things that Karen had done that he hadn’t. She thought “I know his list by heart.” I’m sure that meant that he complained a lot. I pictured Karen diligently keeping a detailed list of all the things that David Michael was left out of.

^ I went looking for a new computer for Christmas and none of the newer computers I was looking for did not have a CD drive. I think they switched over completely in like 2019.

^Well, this just tells me how old my computer is. I read a little bit about the reasoning behind it. Yes, USBs are much bigger and easier for storage. I'll give them that. However, I'm not a fan or believer of "nobody listens to CDs or watches DVDs anymore." Not everything is available to stream. Frankly there's been such a negative blowback on video streaming in the past year that I almost expect DVDs to make some sort of comeback.

I brought a movie DVD home for Christmas for us to watch as a family and was told, “we don’t have a DVD player anymore.” Oh. Ended up renting it to stream, which was a waste of money, but there ya go.

Oh, bummer! Movie rental is still a big thing with libraries. But also, Best Buy had announced recently that they were going to stop selling physical CDs or DVDs at all. I guess it swings both ways.
