So whenever Karen took class attendance and told us little tidbits about her classmates, who did she usually omit? She never went through all 17 names. It was always the same people and then "I checked off a few more names and was all done, blah blah two-two ME." Who got the shaft?

Even if it was an odd number, a secret gift exchange would work just fine since they weren't intentionally pairing the kids up, just having them draw names, even though by chance Karen and Pamela drew each other. Imagine on a smaller scale, if Karen gave Nancy a gift and Nancy gave one to Hannie and Hannie gave one to Karen. Three Musketeers, three gifts, nobody left out.
In the book I'm looking at Karen said everyone's name for attendance but I think the kids who most often got left out were Ian, Chris, Audrey, Omar, and Sara, who I think of as the "filler kids" in the LS books. They got more description in the KIMCC series. She'd always mention Pamela, Jannie, and Leslie, Ricky, Bobby, and usually Hank, Hannie and Nancy, ol' droopy socks Natalie, and Addie. Terri and Tammy got mentioned usually and skipped sometimes.

That's good, and Pamela was nice enough to offer her stickers in Karen's Pizza Party as well before turning into a brat

The 18 KIMM (6 boys and 12 girls in alphabetical order by last name) 1 Tammy Barkan 2 Terri Barkan 3 Karen Brewer 4 Nancy Dawes 5 Sara Ford 6 Bobby Gianelli 7 Jannie Gilbert 8 Audrey Green 9 Pamela Harding 10. Omar Harris 11. Ian Johnson 12. Chris Lamar 13. Leslie Morris 14. Hannie Papadakis 15. Hank Reubens 16. Addie Sidney 17. Natalie Springer 18. Ricky Torres Nancy is the 4th student. I made the list this way because I wanted an idea of how Ms. Colman's attendance book might look. Nancy is the 4th student. Omar is the 10th student. Lol, I am not suggesting this means anything, I just again was curious because Ms. Colman told us she wrote down each student's name on the 18 slips of paper from her attendance book. This story is very sweet both in Valentines and treats! What awesome room parents to have brought both cupcakes and cookies, I wish we were told who they were. I always enjoy family celebrations and it was cute how Karen called Nannie's breakfast a red heart breakfast. I know Lisa and Seth make a Valentine breakfast in Karen's in Love. In this book it was funny (and nice) Elizabeth got Watson a red tie with white hearts. Reminded me of the decorations to my favorite Valentine's Masquerade in Stacey's Ex-Best Friend that I will read tonight. The ice show sounded fun and cool to see the neighborhood kids coming together, was glad Nancy got to join in, too. I tried figuring out the money aspect last night and decided to read on instead. Hooray for Valentine's secret and otherwise and I sure hope all of your days today have been sweet and fun, too.

This book had lots of fun stuff in it. Karen said that Hannie had two ponytails. "Ponytails are when they are long and straight. Pigtails are when they are shorter and curlier. I decided that by myself." Disagree, but I get that shorter ones look like piggy bottoms. It would have been detentions for all if we had a snowball fight at school. Jannie was super protective of Pamela out of nowhere. I was kinda hoping for yet another crush reveal in the book, lol. I liked how she had that elaborate plan to get Karen in trouble when she was really mad at Pamela, too. Her last secret gift was a dog biscuit in Pamela's desk! Karen's great-aunt Carol Packett used the phrase "Oh, my land!" so Karen started using it. David Michael secretly loved Hannie but then found requited love with Margo Pike. The younger generation's high school years were going to be juicy. The Big House family's brainstorm for the skate show name: Andrew, Ice Capades Junior. Nannie, Cutting Edges. Watson, Skating Sensations. Charlie, Fire on Ice. "You could all skate around with sparklers in your teeth." (Winner, Karen, The Icebreakers) That was a huge error on Ms. Colman's part. Karen and Hannie were very sweet, sensitive friends to Nancy by giving her gifts all week. That could have been a disaster. Lol though at Omar raking in the double presents.

Poor Nancy doesn't fair well in this book. She doesn't even get invited to be involved in the ice show just because she's from the little house neighbourhood. What difference does that make?? Little house neighbours and Karen's little house family were invited. Then she misses out on valentines! Not only that Karen and Hannie has a stupid fight over David Michael.
Pamela blaming Karen for being the mean Valentine was just stupid. She knew Karen gave her really nice things. And she still blamed Karen.
