I liked that Karen and Kristy had a paper route going but I also thought Kristy was extremely mean and rude to Karen during the route, especially in the beginning before they left. Maybe it was because Kristy got cranky in the mornings or something ;D. Was Moonbeam supposed to be the LS version of Nintendo or Sega or something, especially since they included the Paperboy video game in there?

I don't blame Kristy for being mad. Karen completely flaked out on her. Newspaper delivery is actually a hard job to do without a car. I wouldn't recommend it as a young person job.
I had the Paperboy game on Game Boy and thought it was really lame. Save your money, Karen.

I can agree. I don't think it would be a paper route would be a good idea for someone as young.

I just finish this book. When I read, her mom step-dad & her younger brother was living in Chicago. At first, I thought she was joking. I forgot, they moved to other state. (Since, I find LS books at thrift store. They might not have the books, you really want or need.)
I thought Kristy was being to Karen. Like snapping her. Maybe Kristy was tired too.
Karen crack me up. When she was reading the back cover of the game. Her dad ask her question. She said. Making sure, I don't have wake up early in the morning to played it. I laughed that part.
One of the pictures, inside of the book. Where it shows Kristy, Karen, Charlie, & Sam. (Sam doesn't look like he's 15 year old boy. Looks more like 10 or 11 year old boy.)

I thought the same thing about Sam, buttercup! Also, Charlie does not look 17 -- he looks like he could be their Dad!
This book totally remind me of my days delivering papers with my sister. I believe we had to deliver them Wednesdays and Saturdays (Definitely) and maybe another weekday? Either way, it sucked. We did it for the allotted time and then was done with it...
I do not blame Kristy for being "snappy", as everyone says. After all, it WAS Karen's idea. On top of that, Kristy had school (Grade 8 is more difficult than Grade 2, haha) BSC meetings AND babysitting. That's a lot of work on one plate!

The name Moonbeam sounded lame. It just sounds like a name for something else. I got a laugh when Karen wrote that one job she could get to earn enough money for the game system is to write a book. Waking up at five a.m. to deliver the newspapers seems early but then again I never had to deliever papers.

^ I have, and the 5 a.m. time sounds likely. We always had to get up extra early to package them before sending them out because the flyers would come individually and you'd have to put them all together. Sometimes they'd be delivered the night before and you could do it then so save some sleep. Granted, it wasn't a job that my sister and I stayed with for long. I think we filled out our contract and then moved on.

Actually I think 5 a.m. sounds way too late to just be getting up, especially if you have any sort of prep work to do beforehand. People around here often already have their papers on their doorsteps at 5.

It seems like paper delivery is better for older people than a 13 year old, especially since Kristy and Karen were tired later in the day.

^What an awesome comparison Boo Boo. I really liked Boo Radley. Does anyone know if Karen continued her friendship with Mrs. Casper at all? She really did sound so sweet. I was actually surprised that there was no pre interview for this job of any sort. That might be nice in the real world at times, just show up and get hired. I am gathering the newspaper company probably (technically, in their mind) hired Kristy only and whoever (Karen or anyone else) she could get to help was her business as long the job got done. I don't blame Kristy for being frustrated but she could have treated Karen better. Kristy could have simply said (in a friendly way) that it was harder than she thought getting up early and juggling school plus the BSC. The two of them could have worked out the problem together and earlier instead of all the complaining. But then, I really think Watson and/or Elizabeth should have stepped up as parents and tried to help their daughters. I got a laugh out of Sam being so eager to take over the route. That was great but this is the same teenage boy who once woke up at the crack of dawn for the sake of sleeping at SES because he was certain someone would wake him up when any action regarding Little Vampires started. I guess Stephanie Calmenson "forgot" that or maybe she never read that book. In another Ann book, "Inside Out," the main character, 11 year old Jon has a paper route that he finds more difficult than he imagined but that was mostly because of a mean dog and a neighborhood bully, IIRC. Of course, there is "Henry and the Clubhouse" with Ramona's antics.

Not sure, what time our newspaper gets drop off, on Sunday. It's between 7 am - 9 am.
If, Kristy is organized. Why didn't she wrote down the message? Instead of having Karen, wrote it down.

5 am for paper to be deliver. That's way early. Not job for me. Since, I'm night owl. I go bed late.
Mrs. Casper, nice lady. Was she mention in other LS books.
Mostly job for older teenagers or adults. If, you don't mind getting up early, to deliver newspaper in the morning.
That one guy was very picky. Must be perfectly on the porch the headlines facing the door. Ugh, I can't stand those kind of people.
Our newspaper, sometimes it's on our front porch, other times on our driveway, occasion out on the curb. But, our newspaper always in plastic bag, even if it's sunny or rainy outside.
