Or they didn't know Portland's laws. Even Beezus was only 13 or 14.

Just reread this one....i needed a box of tissues when they got to BooBoo's funeral.
In Texas we had animals buried in our yard, and then when mom moved in with her boyfriend, more pets got buried. Mind you the first yard was a lot larger... Unfortunately when Belle died (had to put her to sleep...not going to go into the circumstances.) the creamtorium in the area wasn't open, and my mother was in no condition to drive all the way to Houston... and the other animals died at home.
Of course this was also in the middle of nowhere... although Hurricane Ike might have had something to say about that.
Needless to say we had our own pet cemetary.

It sucked that Boo-Boo died. I liked how the two families celebrated Thanksgiving together instead of separately.

"Hey Seth?" "Yes Lisa?" "Will you carve a cross? It's for my ex's cat's grave." "Uh...sure." "Also you have to go to the funeral." "That will be awkward. Wait, did you say funeral? For your ex's cat?" "Yes." "..." "Hurry up, that cross isn't going to carve itself." Bwahaha!

I read this book for the first time last night. I forgot how likeable Karen is in the Little Sister series. She's annoying in BSC Land. This book was pretty cute. I like that Karen actually realized she was being ridiculous by showing off when they were sledding down the hill.
The only thing I wish for this book was that they mentioned when they buried Louie. I don't remember if they had an actual funeral for Crystal Light. Anyone? I haven't read that book since I was a kid. I thought it would have been nice if someone would have mentioned that they buried Boo Boo near Louie's memorial site.

Pretty sure they had a funeral for Crystal Light and Karen wore a black dress and forbade David Michael to attend.
I did like that Karen realized while watching the footage that she and her friends were being show offs and not blending into the crowd scenes well at all. It feels like more self-awareness than Karen usually has.

^ Yeah, I stop reading Baby Sitters, back in late 90's, early 2000's. When my original series of books were given away. I didn't see them in the book store. I rarely go to the library.

They're hard to find in libraries anymore.

I saw about 10 copies of BSC and LS books at the library here ... and it made me surprised!

There are copies of BSC books with brand new covers (amateur looking! ) at a few select bookstores here too actually, but they're edited to fit in with today though keeping with the original too eg. Rainbow Brite doll in #1 being edited to My Little Pony, which has made a comeback recently

I inadvertently skipped this one during Thanksgiving. I hope the movie wasn't very successful. You hear about tourists going to see the real life buildings like the Home Alone house and becoming a nuisance to the homeowners. I would fire the assistant who gave Karen a clear path to Alison's trailer. The Three Musketeers sounded obnoxious doing stunts down the sledding hill. "We just had to be noticed! I sledded down the hill standing on one leg. I sledded backward. I sledded practically standing on my head." Karen was very athletic, lol. Charlie called them Hams R Us when the family watched the playback. Karen thought that a movie star's hotel room would have fake tiger-skin rugs and gold curtains. Poor Boo Boo. He deserved a better ending than dead alone in a closet. The Boo Boo decline was very realistic and relatable to me. I've done the panicked house search many times only to have the cats appear out of nowhere hours later. I liked that they acknowledged that Lisa was sad, too. There was a line about Emily's baby monitor being strapped to Nannie's belt. Watson was crying and trying to dig a hole in frozen tundra, but perhaps maybe the other parent could have been responsible for their kid. Elizabeth and Lisa look like twins! Watson has a type! I loved the bit at the end where you could see Boo Boo in the window. I hope that part made it into the movie. The Thanksgiving story was kind of an afterthought. I liked Ricky's thankful list. "I am thankful that the Broncos are playing on Thanksgiving Day. I am thankful my dog can catch a Frisbee in midair. I am thankful that my grandma and grandpa are coming to our house for Thanksgiving. Their house smells funny." All good things, Ricky.
