In another thread, lots of you were criticizing Stacey for going from one guy to the next. I was like, "Hey, that's what I do," and then I realized that out of all the sitters, Stacey has the family situation which most closely resembles my own.
Let's look at the other girls with divorced parents. Kristy, normally so confident and take-charge, totally freaks out about Bart. I think it's far too easy to cop out and put it down to latent lesbianism. Dawn, normally portrayed as an individual who fights for what she believes in, is willing to totally change herself for a guy.
Jessi, Mary Anne, and Claudia seem to be better equipped to make decisions concerning men, even though Mary Anne and Claudia have confidence issues in other areas of their life. But these three girls have always had their fathers be very stable in their life, and Jessi and Claudia's parents seem to have really good marriages. (The end of Mallory and Ben's relationship is too unexplained to make any statement about it.)
Thoughts?

I never really thought of Dawn's changing herself for a guy as possibly being related to divorce. It definitely COULD be, though. Maybe she feels on some level that she needs to make changes in order to keep a guy around? That's not uncommon. As for Kristy, I'm sure she learned to be self-reliant by watching her mom be an independent, strong woman. For most of her life, though, she didn't have a healthy relationship in the home to model her own after. That's not to say that everyone with divorced parents is incapable of having a healthy relationship or that everyone with married parents will definitely have a successful marriage themselves. It's just that I can totally see correlations in the BSC, now that greer has got me thinking.
