I jsut reread this one on the bus into work this morning, and it made me sort of angry. It seemed like the whole book was about validating Stacey's behavior. I didn't think it was actually okay to go after someone your friend was into, no matter how he feels, but it seems like that's what this book is trying to get across. Maybe this just bugs me so much because I've been the "Claudia" in a situation like this, and I know how much it stinks, but still. I didn't like Stacey's attitude at all in this book.

I just read this for the first time last night and I have to say, I really liked it. I felt bad for Stacey in the beginning when she was setting up Claud and "Jermy," even though she liked him. She was being a good friend by that point.
I really can't decide who I side with more by the end. While I think Stacey did a horrible thing by letting Jeremy come in between her and Claudia, I don't exactly condone Claudia's behaviour. I can understand why she feels upset and hurt, and I totally get that. But it annoyed me how Claudia refused to at least hear Stacey out when she was trying to explain what had happened. And while I get that she did it out of anger and jealousy, Claudia was definitely in the wrong telling Jeremy about Ethan - telling him lies, no less.
Their fight was great (you know me, I love my BSC drama!) and I really think it was a long time coming. I also loved how Stacey was embarassed by Claudia's spelling and her outfits - finally, realistic 13-year-old behaviour! I was a little shocked to hear Stacey call Claudia a loser during their blow-out, though. I don't consider "loser" to be a bad word by any means, but it still shocked me that Stacey said it nonetheless.
You know what, I actually dig the FF series. They don't have the same charm the original BSC books do, but they have less baby-sitting and lots of drama! Love it! ;D

Stacey and Claudia fighting was horrible! It's like there were no friendships left! I mean, I know they weren't the ONLY friendship link, but with the rest of the BSC going off and leaving the original 4, when half the group is angry with each other, then it's not very fun. Totally agree. This is how I felt about the book, too. It made me feel bad and had a kind of "final" feeling to it - just not the same as the other BSC books (except a few later ones). With a few exceptions (maybe Fire at MA's House), I liked it far less than even my least favorite BSC book. I think I'll stick with those. ;D

I like the bit where Stacey comments on Claudia's outfit that day and she's like what i'm not saying anything bad, I'm just saying...
And in the boyfriend trap, Claudia's all well you need maths so you can keep track of all your boyfriends.
So catty. Lol!
On the fight, I was sort of on the fence. I could see both sides... It was sort of coming that fight. They were bound to fall for the same guy at the same time at some point.
Rachel, imo, seemed a peice of work. Throughout the fight, she seemed to lap it up...Enjoying it.

^ Agree about Rachel. I also was kind of on the fence because I just didn't feel like I really cared. I felt like the whole fight (the whole book actually ;D) was kind of pointless. Maybe it was just the mood I was in when I read it....

With Stacey and Claudia being so into boys and 'older' acting, I wasn't surprised when they broke up over Jeremy. Most 13 year old girls have a lot of boy drama that breaks up friendships- but the way the book was written, it was cringe worthy. A for plot idea, D for execution.

Did anyone else like Rachel? I sort of did. She seemed smart and serious and mature and like someone Stacey would have a lot in common with. I liked the scene where she's helping Stacey get dressed and French braids her hair. I was a little shocked to hear Stacey call Claudia a loser during their blow-out, though. I don't consider "loser" to be a bad word by any means, but it still shocked me that Stacey said it nonetheless. I know, me too. It was sad to see them so mean to each other over Jeremy...I thought he sounded a little boring.

^ I thought he sounded boring as well. The Stacey/Claudia fight was the worst part of the FF books for me, especially since I wasn't convinced Jeremy was all that great.

Jeremy seemed very boring to me too, especially when Ethan is such a hottie. I also like Claudia and Alan Gray together. Jeremy has no personality except for wearing a leather string around his wrist. Oh, and he ~swam with dolphins~.

I thought it was mean of all the other girls who used to know Rachel not to give her a second chance. It seemed like she had changed since they knew her, since she seemed perfectly nice to me, and they just ignored Stacey when she defended Rachel.

^ I liked Rachel a lot, and it didn't make sense to me that no one but Stacey would give her a chance. Is it really necessary to hold grudges from elementary school? If so, the whole Claudia/Alan Gray thing should never have happened.

It reminds me of the episode of 30 Rock where Tina Fey goes to high school reunion. She semeed like she was a real bully when she lived in Stoneybrook before.

^ Definitely. I guess it's not THAT unrealistic for a bunch of 13 year olds to carry that kind of grudge. I was looking at the situation from my current point of view, not from theirs.

I didn't like Stacey in this book nor did I like this book very much. I side with Claudia and here's why. Now, I haven't read Stacey's Broken Heart but I could imagine that she wasn't happy with Robert cheating on her even if they were having problems (I don't remember where Stacey said it. Maybe Stacey and the Stolen Hearts?). You would think that since Stacey was cheated on by a then boyfriend, she wouldn't want her current boyfriend to experience it, but apparently she doesn't care.
