She considered her and Ethan broken up. I don't consider her situation cheating.

I actually liked that Stacey and Claud hadn't made up by the end of the book, very realistic. While I see where Stacey was coming from with the whole Jeremy thing, I really feel bad for Claud. It's not exactly Stacey's fault, but, it really is in no way Claud's.

I reread this book and I thought that Claudia was pretty annoying. She quickly blew this situation out of proportion. But Stacey annoyed me too. She already "chose" a boy over her friends in Stacey's Lie by lying to her friends to go see Robert. With her, I thought, 'Get a hamster, seriously. It's obvious boys mean more to you than your friends, so just get a hamster or something. That way, you can tell the animal about any cute boys, etc., and if you have any dates, you can ditch the animal since it doesn’t require much maintenance and not worry about upsetting it or anyone else by going out with the person.'

^ Haha, a hamster... thats a good idea.
On the subject of Rachel, I don't like her very much. I liked her character and she's a perfect friend for Stacey, but the only purpose she served was justifying Stacey's actions. Although I do kind of get where Stacey's coming from, you'd think she'd just let it go. Her mother annoyed me, too. My Mum would have had something different to say for sure!

^ I don't think I like Rachel very much either. In Stacey and the Boyfriend Trap, I think she tried to make Stacey feel insecure/jealous when she saw Claudia and Jeremy working together in the gym.

^ I agree; maybe she's one of those friends who needs to be needed? Like, Stacey has to venting or worrying or something so that Rachel feels useful or something? I thought it was good Stacey made a non-BSC friend though - about time! Its just a pity they never picked anyone normal or nice (I'm thinking of Ashley Wyeth as I write this)... Didn't Claudia become friends with someone after this fight, too? Emily, maybe?

^ Maybe; I guess that would still make her clingy (I think some members of the BSC said she was clingy), like before she moved to London. I liked that Stacey became friends with someone who wasn't in the BSC. Claudia, as well, became friends with Erica Blumberg after the fight between herself and Stacey.

^ Ah, it was Erica. I never managed to distinguish between them... I'm not sure why that is. I found it funny how Rachel went back to Stacey's as Stacey got ready for the date to give her earrings she had to wear ... was it really that much of an emergency? Did Stacey not own five billion pairs anyway (I'm assuming...)?

^ Maybe none of Stacey's earrings went with her outfit.

Lol, thank you, Claudia! That may be my favorite thing you've ever said. So, yeah. I can't stand boyfriend-hopper Stacey. Ethan wasn't giving her enough attention so she went for someone who would. It was like she was so stuck on the fact that she couldn't have Jeremy that she became obsessed with wanting to be with him. Side note, I kinda like Abby now that she's just a friend who pops in at lunch and then goes off and does her own thing. She considered her and Ethan broken up. I don't consider her situation cheating. But she also knew that Ethan didn't consider them broken up yet. If she couldn't be bothered to set him straight then she was acting shady. Team Claudia.

I really liked this one b/c I was the Claudia in this situation when I was the same age and it was interesting to me to read the other person's pov. I sort of understand things better now, but it was unfortunate that I lost my bf over some dumb boy that moved away the next year.
Oh well. I think this book did a pretty good job with this fight and I did like that it wasn't all wrapped up.

i'm not a big fan of stacey in general, but i'm really disappointed in her after reading this book because i don't honestly think she liked jeremy. she wanted more of ethan's attention, and asking for attention just backfired on her. she wanted someone to show interest in her and validate her, and the only person who didn't already know her was the new kid. there's nothing particularly fantastic about jeremy, especially compared to ethan who is super talented and seems gorgeous in my mind, so the ONLY thing he has over ethan is his newness. it seems to me like stacey went out with jeremy to make herself feel better, and it didn't matter who got hurt in the process.

Eh, I wouldn't judge Stacey too harshly. She is just figuring stuff out. Relationship stuff is complicated.

it would be one thing if she never chose a boyfriend over claudia, or did it once and learned from it, but this wasn't the first time. i know she's only thirteen and that's a hard age no matter what. but she knew what she was doing wasn't okay, and that's why she was searching for validation from rachel the whole way through.

^I don't venture too often into the FF section of this board, but since things have been a little slow, I took a peek. I think you summed up Stacey's character, at times, beautifully Oldhickory. This was a "choosing a friend (in this case bf)" example at its worst. Maybe by this time, 12 years later, she was out for some Laine revenge/payback (for how Laine treated her)except she took her hurt out on Claud. It was completely realistic of a young 13 year old, just not a very kind action at all, especially since Claud had given her another chance at their friendship already. (Stacey vs. the BSC)
The reason I loved the whole McGill family in TSB was because it showed them all, in a light that the regular series didn't. We got to see a genuinely young and eager to settle into Stoneybrook Stacey. All the McGills explored their immediate surroundings and house as a family while waiting for the movers, one of my favorite scenes. Stacey, gasp, asked her parents if it was okay to open the door the first time the bell rang. Ed even did some family grocery shopping. IMO, this was one of the few/if only times we saw the "inner" Stacey as opposed to the person she put out there on a daily basis. I really liked that preteen Stacey. The Stacey we "knew" not so much.
