Didn't Stacey become friends with Rachel in this book? The fight was so-so but I did like Stacey making some non BSC friends that weren't "bad girls." Me too. Stacey's far smarter and more sensible than some people give her credit for. The fanfics depicting Stacey as this ditz chasing popularity are tiresome. The Stacey-Claudia fight was stupid, though...they could have left that out. Bickering and not speaking for ten books over a guy...geod.😩😩😩😩

These books are short. This one seemed about as short as Stacey's Secret Friend.
I feel a bit bad for Stacey in the beginning. I know where she's coming from with Ethan's Sunday art class, although I don't think he's wrong for taking it (only thing that might be wrong is overloading his schedule too much). Plus, it's not like she goes to NYC every weekend. I do think she has a right to be annoyed that she's always changing her schedule to make time for Ethan and Ed, when they don't tend to do the same for her. Honestly, they're too young for long distance.
I'm also confused, because Stacey says they didn't make time for each other this summer and that their relationship had been fizzling out. That's not what I read in Everything Changes. The only reason Stacey saw Ethan less was because of Ed. It's kind of a minor gripe, but still a bit annoying.
Anyway, this fight is really dumb. I really don't like how Stacey basically tries to validate her behavior throughout the whole book, especially with Rachel. For some reason, while Rachel was perfectly nice in this book, something about her feels off. Like she and Stacey are TOO much alike. I don't know how to describe it. I do think that Claudia shouldn't have told Jeremy about Ethan, though.
Like many, I don't see what's so great about Jeremy. Ethan sounds much cooler. I can't believe that THIS guy is what ruins their friendship (I can't remember if Stacey and Claudia patch things up or not).
The fight was entertaining, although Stacey went overboard. I feel like the art thing was unnecessary. She basically attacked everything about Claudia. She later tells Rachel that Claud said "some nasty things"- like what? The worst thing she said was the bit about being an NYC snob, and Stacey and Rachel both agree that they might be city snobs anyway. So... yeah. I'm not sure if I'd forgive her if I were in Claud's shoes.
I felt really bad for Ethan when he showed up as a surprise and thought Stacey was a bit cold to him. It's just... I definitely felt his pain. Their breakup wasn't really handled well. He said they needed to cool off, Stacey took it as a breakup (and just assumed), then... this. Stacey also seems sort of fickle (is this the word?) about boys honestly. I like Stacey much more on re read, but I don't think she's more mature than the other BSC members at all. She definitely leans on the "sophisticated" angle way too much.
A couple weird things:
"I can name nearly every kid in the eighth grade, even if I don’t know them well. And I recognize every sixth- and seventh-grader by face." Is this realistic? I can see it applying to the Bradford Court girls, but Stacey has only been in Stoneybrook for a year. Unless this is a time warp thing.
(After Stacey asks Claud if Jeremy is new): "'I’m sure he’s not a seventh- or eighth-grader, and he looks too old to be in sixth.'" Um... this is impossible. He has to be one of the 3. I know what Claud means, it's just weirdly worded.
My head still hurts from trying to figure out how the BSC is functioning. They don't meet 3 times a week all the time anymore, so I guess Claudia takes the calls? But she did that before and it annoyed her (understandably). They're babysitting less but have less members to cover jobs now (but the same amount of clients)? I know I've talked about this before, but it really does confuse me!
This was a little better than I thought. It's too short to be boring and the drama is entertaining. I do think it sucks that this stupid fight takes up so much time in FF and drags the series down a bit. I give this one a 5. Entertaining, but I have many problems with it.

Do seventh graders really look so much older than sixth graders? They aren't taking regular face variance into account. I went to school with someone who had a full beard at 16, and meanwhile I still looked like a middle schooler. It's just a nonsense statement.

Our middle school actually starts in seventh grade instead of sixth here. I do remember freshman looking younger every year I was in high school. So maybe? I know some kids have a growth spurt around that age. I agree that it's a nonsense statement. Very weird way of saying he's new lol. Also, he could have been held back a year or two and look older than his grade.
