I think I'm finding Jessi's books easier to tolerate now that I'm reading all her books again than I did when I was younger. They don't seem quiet as bad as they used to be...however I haven't reread jewel thieves again, so maybe I'm speaking too soon.

I liked "Jessi's Big Break," because it was nice to see New York through someone's eyes other than Stacey's. I also liked ""Dance School Phantom," and "Awful Secret," even though the last one always makes me hungry because of how often they go to Burger King. Of those three, I think "Dance School Phantom" would probably be my favorite. When I was younger, I was all about "Pet Sitter."

^It's probably really offensive, but I can't help laughing that The Anorexia Book makes you hungry :X

Believe me, the irony was not lost on me, either.

Well, that was the first BSC book I ever read, so it's always got a place in my heart.

I forgot about pet sitter! That one is a pretty good one, too. For Jessi, that is. I loved the subplot with all the BSC members fighting, bitching and stuff. I always loved it when they fought...

I'm actually looking forward to re-reading Jewel Thieves. I can't remember it at all (never liked the mysteries that much). Honestly, it sounds very intruiging, in a really terrible way.

Jessi and the Jewel Thieves was a really dumb mystery, but actually more realistic than the others where the sitters were smarter than the entire Stoneybrook police force.

I love Jewel Thieves, I've decided. There is so much awesome Quint action. And it's so easy to snark on this book. And the super leet mystery soling BSC gang are mostly uninvolved, and Jessi's dumb, and so they aren't "We're so awesome"

i agree that most jessi books were zzzzzzzz, the only ones i really liked were Jessi and the dance school phantom one and Jessis baby-sitter, the rest sucked.

Jessi's Secret Language is all right. I like the introduction of the Braddocks and sign language that Jessi masters. The last chapter is pretty fun--with everyone going to the special performance of Coppelia--with the deaf students in the audience. I was always kind of 'awwww' with that part.
I also like the food in the last chapter. Claudia and her butterscotch sundae and Jessi having ambrosia. Heh.
It's funny that after this book, everyone states how Jessi is the best with sign language...however, the other girls do sit for Matt. I can't really see Claudia memorizing more than 3 or 4 signs. They must have really relied on Haley.
Overall, Jessi gets the shaft in storylines and plots. Even in Super Specials--the Jessi-centric chapters are lame/completely useless (SS 8, SS 10) or she's really unlikeable (SS 3, SS 9).

^ I also thought she was pretty mean to Mallory in SS 5.
Sure Mallory was a dumbass in that book and shouldn't have wasted all her money on cosmetics, but I dunno... I guess I can sympathise with that awkward insecurity. And Jessi was Mal's best friend.

My favourite Jessi book is probably Jessi and the Awful Secret. It was one of the first BSC books I read (my first was Stacey's Ex Best Friend) and agreeing with the previous poster, the idea of it being freezing cold outside and then walking into Burger King to have some warm tasty fries makes my mouth water ;D
I thought Jessi and the Bad Babysitter was good as well because I liked the fact that Jessi had another friend besides Mallory (and outside the club, another snark moment for the BSC for being amusingly cliquey and boot campish in this one) and I liked the video they made for Dawn. Suzi was cute in this book as well - "Think again Buckaroo!" Also, an eleven year old brave enough to stand up to Kristy and her drill sergeant attitute - v necessary and a classic moment!
I didn't like Jessi and the Troublemaker, thought the plot was a bit pointless, dull and at times unrealistic. Jessi's Wish used to be one of my favourite BSC books... but I read it recently and although it's still good, I find it pretty patronising at times and preaches way too much.

I didn't mind her that much in SS5 - I think I would've been annoyed at Mallory too, if she blew all her money and expected to borrow money off me for practically the entire holiday.
I didn't like Jessi and the Troublemaker, either. I don't actually like Danielle very much. I'm not sure why, she just never really appealed.

Guess I remember all too well what that awkward stage was like... ;D A BSC book preaching?! Never!
