Was nice to see Dawn get really involved in a cause without alienating everyone by being so overzealous. (didn’t hurt, either, that the cause wasn’t a controversial one and everyone supported it) Had been feeling kind of anti-Dawn after the last few books but this one reminded me why I used to like her. I wish she was more like "early Dawn" in all of the books instead of becoming so extreme.

Dawn amuses me. I don't mind her books at all. Despite all the California stereotypes, she reminds me a lot of certain people (not everyone) in my town and in the Pacific Northwest. She would fit in very well, I think, at the Evergreen State College.

I always liked Dawn, but she does bug me often now. I hate how she keeps changing for guys! I just can't imagine dawn with a steady bf... It just wouldn't work for me.

I wish Dawn would've had a steady boyfriend. I never understood why she didn't. I know in earlier books they would say Stacey and Claudia liked boys, Kristy and MA didn't, and Dawn was undecided. But still, I think it would've been cool to see her with a boyfriend at least once!

Yes and no... It was kinda cool that she didn't. Not all 13 year olds (or 11 year olds) have boyfriends, so it was a bit refreshing. But also, I think it would have made her feel a little less alone, because even though she had MA, she had to share her with Kristy and Logan.

^ I wonder why they attached MA to so many people?

Yeah its funny how MA is so shy and stuff but she has more close friendships than the rest of the girls!

^ They always say it's because she's "sensative" so I've never given it more thought but you're right. I'm not sure that's the reason. I'll have to think more about this ;D

Maybe she's the easiest to get along with, therefore more people want to be friends with her.

People probably just feel more comfortable with MA. She's very accepting and they don't have to try to act "cool" or anything, like they may subconsciously try to do around S/C for example.

I just was glancing at my collection of BSC books in order and noticed there is only one Dawn book after Abby joins the club - Dawn and Too Many Sitters. That doesn't seem like a very good farewell for her ;D Is she ever even really mentioned in the later books? I have never paid much attention but will now have to look for that. Also, approximately when do the CA Diaries supposedly start?

The CA Diaries start a while after Dawn moves back to California, as Sunny's Mum has cancer during the series (which we found out straight before Dawn moves back). They are still in 8th grade but act more like they're in 10th.

^ It's been forever since I've read that one, too, so I'm not sure. It would make sense if the CA Diaries started around the time when Dawn practically dropped out of the regular series based on all I've heard about how she forgets about the BSC in those.

Yup, Dawn comes back in Claudia and the First Thanksgiving. I remember because it was my favourite part of that book, when she walks in and surprises everyone. I also remember because when I filled out the notebook pages of that book, I wrote that my favourite part was when she came back, and the BSC book I would write would be about Dawn moving back to Stoneybrook. In case you didn't know, I apparently had a girl-crush on Dawn as a child.
