i think it was the combo of glasses + braces + bad hair + no glitter than just the glasses on their own.

^ You're probably right. And she also was the only one who had to wear them all the time. Reading glasses are different than regular ones, I'm sure. I know my mom used to get tormented for having to wear glasses when she was a kid and still brings it up because it made her feel so bad. Of course, the teasing made her try not wearing them, which made her eyes worse. Hopefully Mallory just stuck it out, which I assume she did as it never mentioned that she tried not wearing her glasses. That might have been an interesting storyline, though.

^ITA... luckily I didn't have to wear glasses until I was 24. Not that glasses or lack thereof would've affected my social status much as a teen ;D

You beat me, greer. I was five when I got my glasses. I've learned to accept them as part of myself.

I've only worn them for just over a year and already feel they're a part of myself. I can't stand not having them on.

I've had them on and off since I was 6... I first lied so I could get them... Then never wore them. Then needed them again at 14. But never wore them. Then after my eye sight got worse at 18, I got them again. Now I wear them for driving, watching TV and working on the computer. But not in general. Actually the reason I needed them in the first place is cause i used to read BSC sitting by my window at night, using the street lamp diagonally across the road. Thanks BSC!

^ My mom did the same thing with not wearing her glasses and her eyes getting worse. And it wasn't because of the BSC ;D (she was really athletic and they got in her way and also kids made fun of her) I just read a book that says Richard let MA get contacts. I thought the glasses were just for reading, though, so that seemed really weird.

^ yeah I remember that. Although after a while MA's glasses/contacts were never mentioned, so I think that was another inconsistency.

There's no reason to get contacts if you only need glasses for reading......am I wrong?

^ That's what I thought too, which is why I found this weird. All I could think is "reading contacts"? ;D

You and I are such opposites. I have a glasses fetish but don't need them. I wear glass-lensed glasses but I might be ruining my eyes.

Are they just fashion lenses? Or do they have a prescription? Because if they do, yeah, you might want to stop doing that.

I got my glasses in 5th grade (pink with sparkles) wore them for a week, realized I hated how they obstructed my vision, and made sure they broke during recess. Then I got new ones that I hated more (my mom insisted on wire frames that time) and they were so ugly that I only wore them in the car to school and after school. After less than a year of that, I convinced my parents that they could either keep buying me new glasses as I "lost" them or "broke them" or they could just get me contacts. I really, really, really hate wearing glasses. It's not even about the fashion anymore; i'll wear "fashion glasses" once in a while. It's about the fact that I can't stand not being able to see clearly from all angles.
