scientifically you're supposed to be able to see better out of contacts because there isn't distance between the lens and your eye--if it's not working that way you probably need a new prescription.
none of the sparkles on my clothes come off on my skin--i think it's because it's a part of the fabric.

I much prefer my contacts over my glasses because that lens/eye distance kinda bothers me (sort of the same thing with sunglasses. But I wear them much more now because it just isn't worth it to be squinting into the sun all the time ) I'm sick right now, though, so I've been wearing my glasses all weekend. (Being sick stinks!!)

I sympathize, booboobrewer, being sick does stink . I hope you feel better soon. I personally prefer contacts as well. When I was younger, I wore glasses and they always used to annoy me because they'd constantly slip down my nose. I was also annoyed by the fact that I could always see the frames around my eyes. It always made me feel so.... "confined," if that makes any sense. To me, not having glasses makes me feel so much freer!

Oh, no, can you imagine bright pink glasses next to Mallory's red hair? I cringe just thinking about it.

Oh, no, can you imagine bright pink glasses next to Mallory's red hair? I cringe just thinking about it. I don't think that would occur to Mallory, she'd just think it looked dibbly fresh. Remember how she used to envy Claudia's clothes and wished her parents would let her dress like that? Now, I have a hard time accepting those outfits on a gorgeous Asian chick. They'd be downright hideous on a sturdy redhead!

remember when she wore bright pink flamingo barrettes in her hair for her big date with toby? now that's just cruel.

Well, 11 is a little young for contacts -- everyone at that age wears glasses! Mallory just has to suck it up and quit the whining.

i had contacts at 11. mal would have been sooo jealous. I knew a girl who had them at 12, but yeah, I would've thought most girls around that age would have glasses.

^ Either way, wearing glasses or contacts must stink so I don't blame Mallory for whining. I think it's understandable. Not that she has it worse than other girls but everyone who has to put up with bad eyesight has the right to whine at least a little. ;D Hope you're feeling better Booboo. I never thought of not wanting to wear contacts when you're sick but I know my mom takes hers out when she has a bad headache (which sometimes comes from the contacts).

^It's not necessarily bad, though. I got my first pair of glasses when I was 11, and I liked 'em. Plus, everyone at school was all like "oooh, let me try them on" and I just don't think it's that bad. I never whined, and I didn't get contacts until I was 22 (well, mostly because I was scared of having to touch my eye -- for that reason, my boyfriend still won't get contacts).

^ Glad to hear you had a good experience with glasses. No matter what, though, I'm glad I never had to have them (at least haven't had to yet - my fingers are crossed) because I don't think I would have good experiences with them and don't think Mallory did, either. Maybe better frames would have helped but being a self conscious person to begin with I think might have created some of the problems for her with feeling uncomfortable wearing the glasses. Again, though, no first hand experience on this and I'm only going by what my mom and friends have said about their glasses and eyesight. I know kids were quite cruel to my mom in elementary school and called her "four eyes" and all kinds of other names so can imagine that Mal might have faced the same.

Thanks, aln!
Agreed, janey, that at that age and younger, kids are generally pretty interested in glasses and are always wanting to try them on.
