Hee! I think I've found it! From Claudia Kishi, Live from WSTO
I was wearing a backward t-shirt, overalls I'd made from sewing two halves of different pairs and mismatched socks. It was my "deconstructionist" look
;D

Aha! So Claudia's the one who brought overalls back in the 90s! Heh, that's great though. Isn't she worried about the two halves splitting apart randomly?

Well hopefully she knows how to sew properly. Knowing her, she probably stapled them together cause it was faster. Backward t-shirt? That reminds me of the kid rap group Kris Kross who always wore their clothes backwards.

lol I remember reading about this outfit and going "wtf Claudia?" I hope she didn't divide her makeup down the middle or something to finish off the look - different colors for each eyelid, lips, etc. Maybe she sewed two different halves of underwear together too!
Wish I could remember some more hideous creations, but I'd need to do more book-combing for that...

That sounds horrible! Why did the other girls think it was cool to wear stuff like that??
The water melon thing was pretty bad, too, although it is probably not the worst Claudia outfit, it is the first one to cross my mind.

That sounds horrible! Why did the other girls think it was cool to wear stuff like that?? My opinion exactly. I think that the girls just ignore their true feelings towards some of the stuff about her and just try to be supportive of things she is interested in. I think that they don't like to criticize her because, in my opinion, she gets defensive kind of easily. And she already has things in her life that can bring down her self-esteem - letting down her parents with her grades, comparison with Janine, Mimi's death, not being able to find a guy , and a bunch of other stuff that I forget at the moment. I think that those things are part of the reason why she eats so much junk food - it feels good. I say this in light of faintly remembering somewhere where it says that MA had needed a psychiatrist before. I dunno.

Nah. Otherwise they would have said. Claudia is hardly mary-anne so i think she'd be able to take critisism. (She doesn't like to be humoured...i think!) And it's not like claudia would ever see their books if they said her outfits were awful.
The bsc members can be awfully blunt when it comes to things. Remember their comments to Mal in regards to her 'head dress' in shadow lake?
Her outfits can't be that bad. In 'stacey and the bad girls' she (stacey) says that claudia is a fabulous dresser. Why would Stacey need to lie? Also, nobody pointed and laughed at her at stacey and robert's party(nor do they do it at school). Trust me, Stacey would have mentioned it in 'stacey vs the bsc'.
Some of her outfits have been tremendously hideous as hideous outfits can go. For me, the worst one ever, has to be the god awful one in 'abby's lucky 13 (?) I think this is the one where you can find claudia wearing a hideous bumble bee meets leopard ensemble.
But really, come to london and you can see what some of the tourists wear.

Yeah, I agree with slytherin... I think what Claudia wore really *was* cool and artistic. At least in Stoneybrook.

LOL. I wish her outfits had translated to the tv show or movie so we could really see what this crap looks like.

Remember their comments to Mal in regards to her 'head dress' in shadow lake? Well . . . in Goodbye Stacey, Goodbye, Claudia writes a poem and it stinks. After Kristy criticizes it, Claudia looks wounded, says Kristy's rude, then Kristy apologizes. Examples like that indicate, for me, that Claudia wants her friends to be supportive friends. And they have grown into that role. In Claudia's portrait, when Claudia gets sent to a "special" school. And in Middle School Mystery, MA was shushed for not being supportive. In a FF book, Stacey says she is embarrassed by how badly Claudia spells. I don't remember hearing that in the regular series, so I don't know if how they really feel is always revealed. But I haven't read everything. I dunno.

Yea but thats different. I mean, you can turn around and say that a poem that someone has worked really hard on (and probably came from the heart) for a loved one who has just passed away, stinks. Of course Claud would be wounded..Anyone would be.
Granted, I think they do take eachothers feelings into account so they would hold back on a few things (ie. claudia's spelling because of Janine. But they never say they are pleased with her academic achievements) But mostly, I think when they talk about her (claud) art (which she has won awards for) and her clothes, they're genuine.
Like you've said, the BSC members are a supportive bunch. Whenever the Bsc members don't like something, They won't pretend to like it.
Here's an example, think about some of Gwen stefani's outfits, if written on paper, it would sound hideous (in reality they are in a way) but on her, it actually looks good (when really should have been a disaster) and she's been hailed as a style icon. (not that I would be copying her style, i'd feel ridiculous.)
I have to say though, if Claudia was a munter, She would be ripped to shreds like it was going out of fashion.

We're supposed to think Claud's outfits are cool, the BSC does nothing but gush over them excitedly in every Chapter Two. And I'll admit that as an eight yr old, they had me fooled ;D

I think most of us probably LOVED chapter 2s that included descriptions of Claudia's outfits. I was always so disappointed when they were just like "she dresses really cool!" but didn't say what she had on.

I'm so going to compile a list of all the Claudia (and probably Stacey) outfits ever described in the books one day when I have a lot of free time. And it will be dibbly fresh.
