There has been lots of talk about how ugly Mallory is but I was just wondering if you guys think it would be permanent (yes, I know she's a fictional character).
She has braces but they'll come off eventually. She has glasses but she could get contacts. Besides, glasses aren't always so bad. She could even get good frames. She has bushy red hair. The red hair isn't bad but I'm not sure about the bushiness. It probably depends on what she looks like. She is apparently stocky. I suppose she could grow out of that but probably not.
Do you guys think there's hope for her I think she would become better looking but never a beauty.

Well, it's been said in the books that "Mallory will be very pretty someday." Braces come off. Some people look BETTER in glasses. I think I look strange without mine. She could invest in a straightener and I think red hair is awesome. And she's 11 for crying out loud. I know "stocky" kids that turned out to have wonderful figures. I think Mal could be hotter than Stacey.

There's no reason at all that Mallory couldn't become pretty. Plenty of tweens go through an "awkward" stage. In 10/11 yrs time, there's no reason on Earth she'd be considered ugly, especially since her ugliness was always attributed to the glasses and braces. If they were her biggest problems - and there was nothing particularly wrong with her features - then she'd probably be reasonably attractive as an adult. I mean, there were brief mentions of her wanting a nose job, but personally I think she seemed more upset by the glasses and braces.

I think it's totally possible. I was hideous when I was that age, and I look relatively normal now. If it can happen to me, it can happen to her. Oddly enough, my hair is MORE bushy now than it was then, and I DID have to invest in a straightener to make it look better.

I was so awkward for such a long time. No one told me I was pretty until I went to college :/.
I like how mal wasn't pretty though. Sometimes it just seemed like the bsc was filled with the supermodels of the future.

I don't think Mal would ever become pretty. That sounds mean, but her features just don't sound very attractive. I don't ever see her growing into the hottie on the cover of CA Girls.

I'm sure it possible, but it still seems wrong when someone playing Mallory in an RPG uses pictures of Lindsay Lohan to portray her.

I think Carrot Top with a ponytail was the best portrayal of Mallory in a RPG ever.

Well, I don't think Mal is that bad to begin with. Sure, she doesn't leave you "speechless" like Dawn does, and she's not "exotic" like Claudia, but I don't think glasses, red hair, and braces (the clear kind!) are that bad. I think she was a little melodramatic when she complained about her looks, as most of us probably were at that age. I guess when you're friends with all these supermodel-like 13 year olds, you're bound to feel ugly in comparison!

I guess she's one of the few famous red-heads? But yeah, that's definitely pushing it.
I could imagine Mallory becoming like Michelle from the American Pie movies (except her hair would be tons bushier, although that's easily remedied)
I just find it difficult to accept Mallory's "ugliness" based on the fact that she has glasses and braces. I mean, is her actual face unattractive? It's never really specified.

I always thought Mal's face was kinda unattractive - I mean they constantly mention how she wants a nose job so I'm pretty sure she's got a weird knocker. But I do think most of it is the unruly hair and glasses. I bet she was an adorable little girl though, and just kinda grew up awkward looking.

She already is. She may not be beautiful but I do think she's pretty. I think Mallory is suffering from the 'hermione Granger' thing. Hermione was already a pretty girl but in literacy, Bushy hair and buck teeth are seen as undesirable.
If mean lets face it we have seen pretty girls with wild hair, glasses..Or pretty girls with goofy teeth, in real life. It's just that in books our shallowness gets the better.
If that makes sense.
