I think Mallory will be a hot chick when she grows older. I've seen this all the time. The people who are considered ugly turn out to be so hot when they get older. They end up doing whatever it takes to look wonderful. Plus, she has a hot father so those genes will kick in soon enough. Good looks on a man don't always translate well to a female face though :/ Rumer Willis inherited her dad's facial shape and, well...poor thing

^Agreed. One of the Moore-Willis girls, I think Rumer, was in the movie Now and Then, and she was cute as a little girl.

^ Good point. Maybe Mr. Pike got his looks from his mom? Maybe she will inherit those genes? Wow, I'm thinking way too much about it. :X

Mallory is pretty in her own way. She's not beautiful compared to Claudia, Stacey, Dawn, Abby, and Jessi (Kristy and Mary Anne are just "average" compared to everyone else) but she's pretty. Mal could be prettier when she's older. Braces DO come off, she can get glasses with different frames, she can straighten her hair, and get a nose job when she's eighteen or older. Also she can wear makeup when she's allowed to. So, yeah, I think Mal is just in a phase. Most of us were like this at this age.

With everything available today, I don't think Mal would even need plastic surgery, I think she'd do just fine if she knew how to apply make up properly, and had a hair straightener.
^ I also don't remember Abby being described as beuatiful?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Mallory's dislike for her looks has nothing to do with prettiness/ugliness? I think that she just doesn't like the way she looks with freckles, glasses and braces.

I think that she just doesn't like the way she looks with freckles, glasses and braces. I think she just has to grow into her looks. They said so as much in a few chapter twos. When you have more distinctive/strong features, you're bound to go through an awkward stage. I certainly wasn't a raving beauty at eleven!

I wasn't a raving beauty at 11 either. Sometimes I look back at my school pictures at 11 and cringe a little bit.

In addition to cringing to old photos, I sometimes cringe at current photos of mine.

Oh, yeah, Abby wasn't described as beautiful. Don't know why I typed that, lol. Thanks for notifying, kylie90210. However, I do think Abby is very pretty. She could easily be a model like Stacey, Claudia, and Dawn. I agree about Mallory not needing plastic surgery. For some reason, I can't imagine Mal with straight hair. I guess I'm so used to her bushy hair Have you noticed that in the pictures when Mal was ten, her hair wasn't very bushy? Strange. It was curly but not as bushy as it was when she was eleven. My favorite illustration of Mal is in Super Special #11: Babysitters Remember. She looked a bit older than ten (maybe twelve or thirteen?) but she was cute.

Mallory's traits that hinder her looks don't necessarily have to be ugly. She cut her hair short in book #21, it just wasn't in the cover art. It probably made her look pretty cute. As for glasses - it probably just needs to be in the frames. Or contacts. Whichever. After that, it all depends on how she looks after herself and how she dresses. If her health is good, she'll probably look prettier, and even if she doesn't, she can still dress nicely, even on a budget. I think Mallory being pretty someday is not as far-fetched as a lot of people think. Has anyone ever watched the show Hey Arnold? A character in that who is often considered ugly becomes beautiful when she makes an effort - then again, she probably has more to make the best of, with thick fair hair and blue eyes (I know the animation doesn't show eye colour, but it was confirmed in the dialogue).

I also think she was pretty in the internal illustrations in European Vacation.

Yes, she will. Mal's just in a really awkward stage right now. But she is very pretty in certain covers like #47, SS #4 and SS #11.
