I voted for MA because she's kind and caring and patient and understanding. She'd be a great elementary school teacher (probably kindergarten or 1st grade).
My first thought was Kristy but she can be kind of strict and stern and impatient. She'd be better off as a sports coach or middle/high school PE teacher.

I think Mary Anne would probably be the best, including or especially with older kids (8th grade or maybe even high school), she would probably get confident enough over time and come to think of those older kids as more interesting. Especially with her love for literature. Kristy is usually only really good with kids that already like the activity but I think she'd be a pretty good P.E. teacher even with reluctant kids. Some of the books said Stacey wasn't good at teaching math.

I like Mary -Anne as a teacher, didn't she do ok bad in those short takes classes. She'd be fair and fun, maybe like ms Coleman.

My initial thought was Mary Anne, but to be a successful teacher, you need to be able to control any rowdy children. MA would be a shoe-in for the nice, approachable side, but I don't think that she has the 'toughness' factor. Mary Anne can be tough when she needs to be; she's no weak-willed little thing, despite her quiet nature. One doesn't need to be loud to be tough or firm. I actually have in my stories where Mary Anne, living in New York City, teaches and is a counselor for many inner-city kids and deals with them very effectively. I do agree that Kristy would also make an excellent teacher.

Okay? The Mary Anne of your stories is not how we are required to see her.

I voted for Mary Anne awhile ago, but never explained why. I can see her as a grade school teacher. She'd be very kind, but I think she'd be able to take control and discipline if she had to - I don't know how she'd fare with older kids, though. I've been impressed by how she handled difficult kids before in the series. Me too, Gingersnaps! I think she would also do very well with older kids. That's largely why I think as an adult living and teaching in NYC, she would handle the toughest inner-city kids from several of the city's poverty-stricken ghettos beautifully. Stacey would be the "hot" teacher who flirted inappropriately with the boys. There's one in every school. That's so silly! No, Stacey is not a reckless flirt and I don't see her doing that nonsense as an adult. Please, Sparklymouse, stop sexualizing Stacey so much. Okay? The Mary Anne of your stories is not how we are required to see her. True, no one is "requiring" you to see anyone either way...relax. You are free to write your own fanfiction of your own edition of the BSC...no one is going to censor you off the web. πππ I think grown-up Mary Anne would remind me a lot of some of the teachers I had in grade school. Kind and sweet, but also very firm. She would never stand for kids picking on other kids and things like that. Yes, so true! Mary Anne would definitely be tough on bullying. I think Mary Anne has the strength and courage also to deal with a lot of the toughest kids and lots of them from the gang, crime, poverty and/or drug infested ghettos of the inner city. I daresay she'd have a soft spot in her huge heart for the kids having the hardest time and who are facing the toughest obstacles to education and success. I remember how in the book series, sensitive as she is, she is always calm in an emergency...eg, Mary Anne Saves the Day and Mary Anne to the Rescue. She is experienced in handling kids back in Stoneybrook who were pretty strong-willed and hard to handle...Jenny Prezzioso, Victoria Kent for example. I think her baby-sitting as a teenager gave her plenty of practice handing defiant or strong-willed students in her adult years. Also, a person does not have to be loud or rude to be strong, firm or tough. I also see her reaching out in-person to the students who would be hardest hit by the pandemic and the American civil unrest...there would be none of the "social distancing" or "virtual-only" nonsense with her.

That was a post from 13 years ago. Please stop acting like these are real people and your best friends. It was funny at first, but it crossed the line long ago.

Sorry, I see the BSC as so realistic that they could be real people. ππππππππππππ Aren't lots of the posts here imagining the BSC beyond the books? Take a look at the thread on how the BSC would handle the covid pandemic...lots of interesting, real-lifelike posts there from different people. babysittersclub.proboards.com/thread/5995/bsc-pandemicThere is no need to get upset and defensive over comments that imagine the BSC in the real world.

Iβm not defensive or upset about that. You donβt get how rude your posts are no matter how often it is spelled out to you. Read the room a little bit.

I'm not defensive or upset about that. You don't get how rude your posts are no matter how often it is spelled out to you. Read the room a little bit. Sure, you are upset about posts you don't like...but I'm not going to waste a lot of time or space arguing with you over this. π©π©π© I prefer to use my imagination in figuring the BSC in the real world, not stuck in some time warp or being oblivious to the world outside themselves. It is not my intention to be "rude," but you cannot try to dictate what others can or cannot imagine about the BSC or order others to censor their thoughts or feelings simply because you don't like them. It has been an eventful year and a half in real life and I am sure I am far from the only one who realizes that the BSC characters have no doubt been affected by nationwide and world events. Let others work out their thoughts and feelings here without you trying to censor them. I am sure many of posters here may have come from a stressful work day or be taking care of family members and need a place to vent and relax. I think today the BSC would be working to make the world a better place, not wrapped up in only themselves or their immediate world. That's a large part of why I love the BSC...in general, they are not self-absorbed and despite growing up in relative comfort, they are not spoiled. And lots of people, myself included, enjoy imagining how the BSC would be improving the real-life world...just let them. βΊβΊβΊπππ

Rude. Not βrudeβ. Actually this board has generally made it a policy to keep politics to a minimum or in certain threads so that people can escape from real life and relax. Iβm sorry if you have no real life people to help you talk through this stuff. That must suck.

Also...if youβre creating intricate fantasy worlds in writing on another site, thereβs little point in bringing it here and spamming the whole board with it. Thereβs a fan fiction thread for a reason.
