Until wading through this thread, it never really struck me as odd that the other BSC Members never helped supply the snacks. Unless Claudia decided that if she ever did get "caught" her excuse could be that the junk was for her friends? Or, too, the ancient "if my friends are (allowed to) eating it, why can't I?" I think Claudia once said she didn't have to hide Stacey/Dawn food but liked to anyway. Also, there were times when Claud brought up healthy food for them from the fridge, so that didn't completely come out of her own earnings.
ITA, horrible message about binge/comfort eating, a lot of the time. I, too, wish there had been another Janine "candy" moment. If nothing else, Mrs. Kishi was amazingly stupid for not calling Claudia on her habit in "Lighthouse Ghost" when she (Rioko) smelled "chocolate." Wouldn't all the other times she had come into her daughter's room and thought she smelled chocolate have come to mind? Of course when the oldest Hatt girl (can't remember her name right now) threatens to tell C's parents about all the candy. That would have been interesting to read.
I've said this before but I am not the best person to speak of eating habits since mine really could be improved. However, where food was concered I think those Pikes had the right idea: stocking up on a variety of staples, along with some "junk" and not being super vigilant over what the kids daily ate. A scene were Claudia pointed this out to her parents could have been quite fresh.
Claud herself? I confess to liking her more than I used to. She's my second or third favorite Sitter.
