I have never thought of Dawn/Claudia hanging out. I don't think Dawn would want to be around Claudia that long, I think she would find her to be incredibly annoying and shallow after a while. Dawn doesn't seem like the type who'd want to go shopping all the time or watch Claudia paint her nails. Without Stacey, I would expect Claudia to be the black sheep of the club. I can see pretty much all the girls hanging out with someone other than their best friend (ie; Mal and Dawn, Kristy and Jessi, combinations like that), but none of them include Claudia.

In Bad Joke, Claudia says Dawn comes early and stays late for the meetings sometimes, and she's even stayed over for dinner occassionally. Granted, it's more to do with Dawn's mom working so late than Claudia, but still. And then there's little stuff like Dawn bringing her junk food in the hospital (which isn't so little considering it's Dawn) and sitting on the bed with her (Claudia's leg forcing Mary Anne onto the floor).
I always thought the seating arrangements at meetings was significant. You've got Kristy in the director's chair, the older girls on the bed, and the lowly 6th graders have to sit on the floor. Then when Stacey comes back, Dawn gets banished to the desk chair. I always felt bad for her.

Dawn and Stacey alternated with the desk chair/bed, didn't that? I always thought they made a point of that.
Speaking of seating arrangements, Claudia must've had a pretty big room. I can't imagine having 7 people in my room for half an hour, three times a week. And my room isn't even that small!

^ I agree on the room size thing. And there was also her directors chair, desk, art stuff, bed, bookcase etc. Also on occasions, all nine members attended the meetings. Also, it sounds like that room would be filthy, all crumbs, chocolate stains etc everywhere (remember how the girls passed the food around and they'd mention "seven jaws chomping").
It didn't sound as if Claudia's mother ever went in there (she never found the junk food or Nancy Drews) and it didn't sound as if Claudia made an effort to tidy the place up.

Yeah, it's mentioned many times how messy Claudia is. They always brush it off as being because she's an artist... And therefore has lots of junk. But man! I wouldn't want to go to the meetings, or live in Claudia's room.

I'm not like, saying Dawn hates Claudia or doesn't want to be friends with her or would NEVER hang out with JUST Claudia... I just mean that they don't seem like the type who would hit up the mall together every Saturday.
I've always wondered how Claudia had room for 7 girls in her room PLUS her art projects "in every corner" and everything.

I think Claudia was supposed to be the 'Elle Woods' of the BSC. Smart but bit of an airhead. I don't think she's dumb, i reckon she's just been allowed to become to free spirited. -Countless holidays, countless art classes, countless shopping trips.
The school aspect: I could think of more than a few that should have been held back a grade alongside her.
I think it's the classic case of being scared or pig-headed to ask for the teachers help..Thus, she rots in the class room, not knowing what the teacher is talking about...So she daydreams.
I don't know about dyslexia but she seems to have serious problems with her attention span.
It's funny though, because when she got sent back, the girl got A's and B's.

Maybe she has ADD. That might explain how she always seems to have a bunch of different projects at once.

I don't think they ate THAT much of Claud's junk food. I mean usually it was a bag of oreos and pretzels. Or some little candy bars. You could buy a bag of small snickers or something for like $3.
I don't see how they could NOT hold meetings in her room. Where else would clients call? Claudia was too irresponsible to show up for the meetings, so if the rest of the BSC didn't show, no one would've answered the phones.

I reckon Elle Woods is smarter than Claudia I love Elle, she's awesome. I dunno, it seems like they ate a lot... Even if it was a bag of Snickers, or one packet of chips per meeting, plus the healthy snacks for Dawn and Stacey, that's still about 4 or 5 different items a week. I know junk food now is expensive, but say back in BSC time, you could buy that stuff for $2 a packet... That's still about $10 a week. And if they earn about $2-3 an hour sitting (judging by "Kristy's Big Day"), and Claudia has say, 3 jobs a week at 3 hours a job... that's only about $20ish dollars. If they have to pay her for using her phone, why don't they pay her for eating her food?

They make a point to pay for stupid stuff like compensating the renting of practical jokes during their "war" with Betsy Sobak, so the food they consume should qualify as a club expense as well.

And what is wrong with giving Stacey and Dawn some fruits from the downstair's kitchen. Just because she gave everybody else something she bought herself doesn't mean that she has to give Stacey and Dawn food that she bought also.

I never really understood why Claudia provided snacks anyway. I mean, the girls didn't get to her house until 5:30 so by then they'd likely have been out of school for at least 2 and a half hours. Wouldn't they have already eaten their afternoon snacks and be having dinner shortly after they returned home from their meeting?

That's true...it's not exactly the best time to snack. But it seems like Claudia compulsively eats junk food fairly often, so if she's going to eat during the meetings, she's not going to just munch without offering the others anything. I wonder if any of them get allowances.

In Poor, Mallory!, the Pikes mention no allowances while Mr Pike is out of work... Don't know if that means Mallory gets one, or if it's just for the immature kids. I never got the impression that they received money from their parents... Just baby-sitting.
