^ I believe the older BSC members were in born in 1976 because the first BSC book was published in 1988, when they were supposed to be 12.

^Kristy's Great Idea was published in 1986, so that would make them born in 1974.

^ Thanks for correcting me! For some reason, I thought that Kristy's Great Idea was published in 1988.

I used to love Logan and wanted a boyfriend just like him. Now, I see him as the stereotypical cute suburban jock... boring! I like that he has the guts to babysit although he gets a lot of slack for it. I also like that he overlooked many of the glam girls at school to be with simple Mary Anne. Oh, and one thing... I always thought the way everybody (especially MA) gushed about his accent was annoying.

^ i didn't like reading about his accent EVERY SINGLE TIME he appeared in a book, but i'm such a sucker for a guy with a southern accent :] so i can see why MA loves it.

I was just thinking that a PERFECT gift from Logan to Mary Anne would be something from the Vera Bradley line. Southerners love that stuff. His mom would help him pick something out. And I think Mary Anne would be a fan of those kinds of patterns.

Booboo, I saw something semi similar at a Walgreen's yesterday--a small backpack/purse. I agree that Mary Anne would like a floral pattern bag like that, that sort of reminds of a gift for an elderly person or someone like Mrs. Arnold (What was her first name, again)? who gave me a countryish vibe at times.
As for Logan, I do think he sounded like the perfect boyfriend most of the time.

Zoar, I looked at the Complete Guide and it says that Mrs. Arnold's first name is Linda.

I wonder if they made Logan controlling just so MA would have a reason to break up with hm. There are always those messages in BSC books - this shows that girls can break up with guys and move on (although MA doesn't really move on).

My post vanished. I swear last night I said thank you to you, Anzuhana for that. I also said that Mallory mentioned Mrs. Arnold had on a necklace that spelled out her name (probably in #21) but I couldn't remember what her (Mrs. A's) name was. In any case, thanks.
I was disappointed when they broke up. It would have been more interesting had Logan broken up with Mary Anne over her less than friendly personality traits.

actually, i was glad MA broke up with him instead of vice versa. i hate couples who break up and get together constantly. and i couldn't imagine logan getting back with someone who dumped him twice, so that was a relief.

^I wouldn't have cared for a constant back and forth either, Oldhickory. I just think Logan's reasons for breaking up with her could have made for an interesting read.

The Dawn Saves the Trees episode made me wonder why book Logan wasn’t stuck doing more match making. (In the episode Dawn had a crush on Logan’s friend, Zach Braff. Until she found out that Zach Braff was the son of the woman who was trying to cut down a dozen trees. But anyway.) Logan had inside access to a large group of semi-desperate girls. Yet his friends were never like “Hook me up with one of Mary Anne’s friends.” Or vice versa. None of the BSC were ever “Mary Anne, who is Logan’s cute friend over there? Introduce me!” It was a missed opportunity for Logan Bruno, Boy Cupid.

So I have a lot to say about Logan. If you read this entire posting, you deserve a thank you.
I was reading some of the old posts and people had mentioned avatars, and how they always saw members looking like their avatar picture. Now, I'm a guy. And as we know, most of the BSC pictures were pictures of girls, so I always just put up either my favourite sitter, or icons someone made that I thought were funny or cute or whatever. But since reading other people's thoughts on their icons, I recently changed mine to a picture of Logan. He is the only boy babysitter, after all. But I do look similar to him (now). We're both blonde (although he's more athletic than me) and both tall. I don't have a southern accent (I'm Canadian). And when I was 13, I was a fat kid, so I probably looked more like Jake Kuhn on the cover of Mary Anne Breaks the Rules rather than Logan himself. But now, as an adult in my mid 20s, I am attractive and look more like Logan (and I am going to add one of those Claudia or Stacey moments here, when they talk about being attractive but say... I'm not conceited, haha).
Logan could be controlling and possessive BUT I think that stems from the writers using that for a purpose. Why? Well, I always felt that Logan was used as an example for young girls: don't let boys control you. Don't let boys take away your individuality, stuff like that. Logan was really important because it taught girls what you should have in a relationship -- a sweet boy who was sensitive and a good listener (AND a babysitter to boot!) Plus, I think Scholastic tried to balance heartthrob with all around good guy (athletic and smart and a babysitter) so sometimes his image can kind of crack.

I do agree I think that Logan's character ended up being a "don't let boys control you" kind of thing. However, I have said it before that I feel Logan didn't try to control MA, he just had to do something b/c she was so passive and never said a darn thing otherwise. If she had just spoke up from the beginning, I think their relationship would have been good, but she didn't. She just kept things bottled up and poor Logan got blamed for her being that way.
I still will take Logan's side. Maybe they used Logan instead for a - "ladies always speak up for yourself and don't be meek" kind of thing?
