^I still take Logan's side also, Wiggirl, perhaps because I am becoming less and less of a Mary Anne fan. I honestly don't think Logan, aside from briefly in "MA vs. Logan" was ever a horrible boyfriend. A not-so-good friend, maybe but then neither was MA. Not once did either of them ever try to discuss how to make their relationship better nor did Logan ever ask MA why she was so down. I still say the lack of info probably had something to do with the ghosties either not wanting to bother with a Dr. Reese/MA initial sessions and/or they felt the reader would be bored by that. I've said this many times but it always seemed to me like MA was depressed/down for quite awhile. We never saw any of it. Not once did we even hear of her having school difficulties and/or being tired often as she admitted in the above book. Zip. All the "blame" went to Logan. It definitely takes two to tango but I'm tired of MA apparently believing those closest to her should be mind-readers.

^ I can see what you both mean. I don't think that Logan was necessarily controlling, either. For example, I have some friends that are REALLY passive, especially when it comes to decision-making. Whenever we do stuff, they "don't care" or don't put in any ideas, really, so you could look at it as being controlling if other people consistently make decisions for them -- because they're so lax and passive and don't care?

I dislike Logan not so much for his treatment of Mary Anne, but because, well, he's really just not the sort of guy I like. Jock? Lame sense of humor? Ugh.

^ Or how about a Southern accent that never really showed up in the TV show and was really contrived and fake in the film.

^Or his rarely mentioned siblings! That was probably one of the very strangest things about his character that lol had little to do with him. We read tons about Kristy's, Mal's, and even a little of Jessi's siblings, but almost zip about Logan's.

^ Maybe that was because Logan was an alternate member and maybe Mrs. Bruno stayed home with the kids so the BSC wasn't needed.

He is definitely not my type either. I feel like I would punch him, but I don't think he is the controlling freak he was made out to be. Come to think of it, I don't know if I ever liked a male in BSC world. All of them just annoyed me!

Physically Logan was my type. I've never been one for the whole "tall dark and handsome" thing. However, I've got it stuck in my head recently that Logan was mumble-y and hard to understand. I don't know why. I know some of you watch the Teen Mom shows. You know how some of the people have to be sub-titled so you know what they're saying? Well I feel like Logan in real life would need to be sub-titled. No offense to those Southerners who can speak clearly. ;D

^Mine, too. I've always been more (initially/physically) attracted to blond/blue or light eyed men. I thought early Logan came across as very sweet. I know he quickly became one of the popular crowd, but I admired that he never really let that go to his head.

I thought that Logan was cute, too. And I did think he was a sweet character growing up. Almost like the perfect boyfriend, as he was portrayed to be. But then I was young and naive and didn't analyze the characters (like we do on this board) to know of his different layers.

I don't think he was "deep" enough to have layers. He seemed like a great guy when things were going his way and a pill when something went wrong.

^I think his family definitely had issues, and he had sort of a defense up, what with his constant wisecracks and being sort of generally defensive. It's interesting to me that the associate members both had families that kind of leaned to the dysfunctional side. Kerry definitely had issues, and Mrs. Bruno and Mr. Bruno's relationship seemed to be one where Mrs. B submitted to her husband about a lot of things.

^From Mary Anne to the Rescue, Mr. Bruno did indeed come across as at least borderline "scary." I could have sadly seen Logan's family (I am so glad they didn't) have some version of the Nicholls' problems. Mr. Bruno just seemed like the type who did often lash out like a mean bear.

Mr. Bruno seemed to have definite ideas about masculinity and gender roles.

I think that my favourite portrayals of Logan are on Mary Anne vs. Logan and Mary Anne Breaks The Rules.
