During my reread I'm disliking Jessi more and more and find myself skipping her books. I skipped Jessi and the Horrible Prank lol. I've started disliking her when she was really mean to Mallory in California Girls.

You know what I find weird? In Hello Mallory, when Jessi was first introduced, she liked to tell jokes. But, in all the other books, she doesn't tell jokes anymore! Not only that, in that same book, Jessi mentions to Mallory that she also needs braces, but Jessi never gets the braces.

^ She was also supposed to get glasses, I think. But she never did. (Or maybe she was already wearing glasses. It's been a while since I read Hello Mallory so my memory is a bit fuzzy.)

Jessi isn't my favorite character. She's at the very bottom, actually, next to Abby and Dawn. She's just black, eleven, a ballerina, a book lover, and good at languages namely sign language. I do like Becca and Squirt a lot, though, which are other threads

I like her family scenes. I think it's cool that she's into languages. Maybe she would do something with that when older if ballet didn't work out.

^ Yeah, I do enjoy her family scenes. It seems the most "real" out of all the BSC members' families, IMO. I just love how close everybody are. Really sweet.
It'd be neat if we got to read about Jessi speaking Spanish or something. Or if she'd ever learn more French because of ballet.
I just realized something. In the first Jessi book, Secret Language, didn't she say that she wasn't interested in pursuing ballet as a career? Yet in the later books she's like, "I'm going to be a professional ballerina." Huh.

I still think Jessi is boring and the least in-depth sitter she's black, way too perfect (too many ballet leads), is interested and freaking talented at languages, and that's basically it. However, she's the nicest sitter out of all the sitters she was never b*tchy - not even one b*tchy moment - unlike the other girls, she was genuinely nice to her siblings and parents, and she was overall a nice person to everyone. I liked that trait in her.

When she first appeared in the series, Jessi was "funny" and told tons of jokes - but that kind of stopped and was eventually given to Abby when she arrived on the scene.

^ I know! They should've kept that character trait.

I know! They should've kept that character trait. Agreed...there is room for more than one comedian in the BSC.

Yeah on re-read, I like Jessi, but she's too perfect. Everything just went great in Secret Language and it's just not that interesting to read. And she is WAY too mature for 11. I think she got stuck with a lot of the boring plots.
I don't blame her for being annoyed with Mallory in California Girls. I think it's realistic.
I remember liking her last 2 books because it felt like there were actual conflicts. I do like her family a lot and that she asks her mom for advice.

Her parents seem so sweet and loving.
