Which BSCer would you want to sit for your kids and which one would you prefer not to? I suppose Jessi and Mal will get lots of votes against them since they're only 11, but any of the 13 year olds you wouldn't want coming over?
I would love for Dawn to sit my kids cause I think we have the same ideas on a lot of things. I would also like Kristy cause I think a lot of the kids really love her.
I'd def want Claudia keeping out (hah) cause I'd be worried about her bringing candy and junk over and giving it to the kids and doing messy art projects and not cleaning up! Plus I don't want her dumbness rubbing off on my hypothetical children.

I still have a soft spot for Mary Anne, and I think for the most part, she usually does a pretty good job of keeping her own Crazy away from the kids (and it certainly seems like she comes off well to grown-ups). I'd love to hire Shannon, too--just based on what little we see of her she seems very level-headed and mature for her age.
Even without knowing about her scholastic issues, I have a feeling I'd be a little put off just by some of Claudia's wilder outfits. I mean, c'mon. There's "creative sense of style" and there's "insane." As for Dawn, while I agree with her on a fair number of things, her tendency to be strident puts me off, so I guess it would depend on how obvious that was. Kristy may be bossy on details, but it seems to me like Dawn has maybe the greatest penchant for wanting to direct people's lives, and that might bug, because I would tend to think, "Um, hi, thirteen-year-old, just keep my kid in one piece and reasonably entertained. It's not your job to raise her consciousness."
Then again, I guess it would depend on my kids (since I don't actually have any yet). I mean, if I have a daughter like me (shy, unathletic), Kristy or Abby would probably not be my first choice, but I can see why lots of kids would love her--my cousin Gabe, for instance, while his sister would definitely probably most relate to Claudia and Dawn.

I would probably hire Mary Anne or Shannon because they seem to be the most level hea.ed and mature.
Like alula said, Claudia's outfits would put me off lots. Kristy is too much of a busy body, and I wouldn't want her to take over my kids lives. Haha, and Dawn seems very gung ho about running peoples lives and telling people what to do--I don't know how Mrs. Barrett let her get away with that. And Stacey...I'd probably have heard about her "track record" and naturally assume that she'd be one of THOSE sitters who would neglect my kid and bring her boy toy of the week over.
Oh, and there's no way I'm hiring an 11 year old to babysit my hypothetical 10 year old.

Why not, the Pikes do it all the time.

Ok, I wouldn't hire any of them cos they're too young of course, but if I say, had kids and had to do laundry and stuff and lots of jobs to do around the house, I'd have any of them come over (pay them) and let them hang out with the kids. I wouldn't leave them alone, even if I had to run next door to the neighbours.
If the girls were old enough, I guess I'd let Shannon mind the kids.

I think Mary Anne would be my first choice. Stacey seems pretty responsible and the kind of sitter a little girl would love, so I'd also consider her. I wouldn't choose Claudia because I don't like her and I'd be afraid that my (hypothetical) first grader would ask for help on her homework and Claudia would get all confused by it. Plus that scene where she was trying to read to Charlotte and kept messing up? Disturbing!! I would at least want my child's babysitter to be literate.
If I had to choose either Jessi or Mallory, I'd probably go with Mal. I wouldn't want Jessi accusing my kid of being racist because she doesn't want to watch Jessi do ballet in the front yard or something.

Shannon seems like a good choice.
I don't think I could hire Claudia. I would get too annoyed trying to read the notes she'd leave. And I wouldn't want my hypothetical kids helping their babysitter with her homework.
Ha. So Jessi.

That's true, Mallory does seem to keep the Pike household running, and I was baby-sitting at twelve myself. I wouldn't hire Mallory for ten-year-olds or (ahem!) an entire weekend, but maybe at thirteen, after-school, or as a mother's helper.
I love how in "Stacey the Math Whiz," we're supposed to think Mr. Dewitt is really mean and narrow-minded for not being thrilled that the BSC has sent just-demoted-to-7th-grade, can't-figure-out-how-to-conjugate-the-verb-"to tutor" over to help Lindsey with her math. Um, yeah. What a jerk he is.

Well, if my kids need homework help, then yeah it just might be. I don't want Claudia trying to help them read. I am really surprised that so many people are choosing Shannon. We barely know Shannon!

Ha! Maybe that's WHY so many people are choosing Shannon. We don't know her that well, so we can't pick her apart like we can the others.

Mary Anne or Stacey. She always seemed very calm and smart on her sitting jobs. She dealt pretty well with Jenny in the early books, was understanding of each kid and their needs, etc. I think she'd be a great choice. I wouldn't really worry about Stacey inviting boys to the house while sitting because she only started to show signs of that much later in the ghostwritten stuff (like when she tied up the line with Robert while Jamie was barfing). She seemed very sweet and kind to the kids she sat for and came up with fun stuff for them to do. She seemed like a good multi-tasker as well.
Dawn would probably be a safe choice. Kristy, I think she'd get easily frustrated with a kid who didn't always want to play outside and get dirty. Remember the little kid, Georgie, Terry Hoyt's brother? She seemed to think he was odd because he was quiet, wanted to stay indoors, and watch TV. Claudia always seemed very affectionate with the babies, like Lucy Newton, but I don't know about everything else. I'd probably rank her after Dawn.

I don't think I could hire Claudia. I would get too annoyed trying to read the notes she'd leave. You know, that's a really good point and something I've never thought of before. Weren't any of the clients ever bothered when Claudia left a note saying: Mrs. Presee Prisi Mrs. P - Geny and me and Andreea went to teh parck. We will be bak at sevin. frum, Cauldia Seriously, didn't that bother any of them?

i would probably prefer kristy and mary anne and maybe dawn. now way would i let jessi or mal sit my kids, they are far too young. and on claudia, sure shes not that smart but shes fun and would entertain the kids. im not sure if i would let her sit them.
this sounds so weird cos i dont have kids and im too young to be a mother. haha
