What band/s/singer/s/song/s do you think the BSC(or an individual) would just be obsessed about during the 90s?

I remember listening to a lot of Ace of Base, TLC, and the Reality Bites soundtrack a lot. (This might be more early 90s, I'm totally merging everything together). Boyz II Men, All 4 One, Counting Crows and Coolio too. They also played that cantaloop song on the radio every single morning, along with Dave Matthews Band.
Um, then in high school (96 - 00), I remember working in the mall and listening to a lot of Will Smith, the backstreet boys/insync/98 degrees war (none of this was music I actually listened to), and a lot of people liked tool and a perfect circle and filter. There was also smashing pumpkins and REM and hootie and the blowfish on the radio a lot. That sort of moved into the Ben Folds/ Semi Sonic/ Train
It's really kind of hard to think this far back and remember what I was listening too. I should totally go through my CDs.

The 90s music had a little something for everyone. It seems like every 2-3 years a different genre was really popular. So far the 2000s music has left no impression on me.

^ I feel the same way. I feel old sometimes when somebody mentions a new song on the radio and I have no clue what they are even talking about.

I remember listening to a lot of oldies in jr high, actually. Like Jackson 5 and the Beatles were really popular. And I loved Smashing Pumpkins, I went to their concert 5 times. I was only into the R&B/rap/hip-hop when/because a lot of my friends were. LOVED Green Day, Better than Ezra, Gin Blossoms, Counting Crows, and every single song on the Reality Bites Soundtrack. That stupid Lisa Lobe song was on TRL for like a year. Oh, and aerosmith had that album that they released and Alicia Silverstone was in some of their videos and the Empire Records / Dazed and Confused Sountracks.. oh, and does anyone else remember Tag Team, Whoomp there it is? We had that for our basketball warm up. Gosh, I was so terrible at basketball, it's surprising I managed to stay on the team for 2.5 seasons. Then they had the Addams family remix of Tag Team.
I like some of todays music. But not all of it. It's not like I can turn on the radio and find a song I like, not like back when I was a kid. Maybe I'm just pickier, and it has nothing to do with the actual music.

I can see them listening to the boy bands of the late 90s, because I remember how crazy they were about the fictional Nicky Cash. He seemed like the boy band type.
Penny Lane: I remember "Whoomp! There It Is!" It was really big at my school.

^I remember there was a "Whoot! There It Is!" song, and the group that sang it and Tag Team (the "Whoomp" song group) had a sing off on the Arsenio Hall Show. Tag Team won and got to release their version. Or something like that.

i don't know, i think that's really common nowadays. i think everything on the radio just sucks. Haha, yes. I have a live version of a song by Matt Nathanson, and there's a bit of him talking at the end, and he mentions something about Pat Benetar to the audience. He comments something like, "And she wrote her own music, and actually sang. Because people did that back then." Hee. I can see them listening to the boy bands of the late 90s, because I remember how crazy they were about the fictional Nicky Cash. He seemed like the boy band type. Don't forget New Kids on the Block in the early '90s!
