I'm not sure if this is the right place for a thread discussing AMM herself, but I couldn't find one anywhere else and I just wanted to talk about this little bit of info I found in the BSC memorabilia webpage someone linked to in the Jamie Newton thread.
Is it me, or is that kind of a lot of stuff for ONE foundation to dedicate itself to benefiting? When I look at the books with an older eye, Ann seems preachy. I guess that's another example of the way she wants to...make everyone better, I guess?

^ Ann is extremely preachy. It is for this reason I don't think she'd be a successful writer of adult books.

In answer to your question: Not really, from a financial standpoint. Foundations just dole out to their money to different charitable causes.

That clip was the biggest waste of 32 seconds! It does absolutely nothing to convince me that $60 for 21 minutes would be worth it I bet she doesn't say anything new anyway.

How very...odd. And I agree about doubting there's anything new on the "dvd tape" (huh??)

At first i thought it was 60$ for a one-on-one conversation with her. darn.
AHAHA omg i just watched the clip. Why did they choose that segment? So weird. And Ann definitely has a different voice than I thought she would.

Oh my god, that was the weirdest thing I've ever seen! I remember Ann's cats always mentioned in the back of the book. Like, "Rosie's actually a boy, but that's a long story." I guess Ann is really into her pets.

Wow. That was really bizarre. I have no idea why they would choose that segment.
I watched the Phyllis Reynolds Naylor segment, though, and I thought that one was interesting.

I'm not even sure if AMM *is* popular for anything she's written recently...or is she still riding her BSC fame? Which, essentially, she doesn't even fully deserve...

I have that tape! I paid a dollar for it at a used book store. Alas, I haven't watched it yet-- my VCR is in storage.

Wow that is really something. I think it is very, very unfortunate that they picked that particular segment to show us why we should buy the tape. I watched Phyllis Reynolds Naylor and Lurlene McDaniel and they were actually talking about themselves.
Who is the target audience for those tapes? I just cannot imagine anyone spending that money on a tape or a DVD for 21 minutes of Ann M Martin talking to her dog.

I saw that too... I'm not sure why that person thought something discussed a year ago in the bsc lj comm qualified as "celebrity gossip."
