No, I it figure it's the same c*** (are we allowed to say that word here?) all the time. I wish she wouldn't do this, I mean it's a series and if you want to find out about the girls, read the first ones! I don't know of another series that "describes" each character AGAIN, in each of the books. I mean, there could be more to every story if she didn't take up FIVE pages of this c***! The BSC was definitely the most thorough series I read, but I did read other books that repeated stuff in every book. For example, in the Sleepover Friends books you always heard how Lauren and Kate started out as the Sleepover Twins, Stephanie moved to town and they became a trio, then Patti moved to town and finalized the group. They always had to say how Steph and Patti knew each other from "the city", Steph had curly black hair and only wore the color combination black, white, and red, Kate wanted to be a movie director when she grew up, Lauren and Patti were tall and skinny, Lauren ate a lot and was nicknamed "the bottomless pit," Patti was smart and very shy, etc. etc. etc. All this info was sprinkled throughout the first few chapters and really only added up to about 2-3 pages in each book, so it wasn't as bad as the 15+ page chapter 2s of the BSC books, but they did do it in pretty much all the books. Can anyone think of any other series that do the chapter 2 type stuff in each book?

Skim, even in the little sister books, I skimmed. I hated doing it but they were all so similar that it could put you to sleep.

I skim over the chapter 2's since they're pretty similar.

I don't really mind the infamous Chapter 2's. I read them because they are part of the books.

I absolutely dislike reading the Chapter 2's unless I'm reading one of the first books in the series (since their Ch. 2's weren't annoying yet) or I'm reading one of the last (since I don't really know much about Abby and such...).

I skim them for outfit descriptions.

I skim them, and just read the outfit descriptions, and how they describe Claudia and Mal. I usually completely skip Karen's chapter 2's, though.

I totally skip the ones in LS, because Karen's books are so low on plot that reading the ch. 2s is downright painful.
I skim the BSC ones occasionally rather than reading them like I used to as a kid. I read the series out of order, though, so they did help me keep track of who was where. They're so horribly formulaic, it's sad.

I always read all of them if it's a book I haven't read before, but if I'm rereading it, then I just skim the chapter 2.

I'm sure I've answered before, but I'm a little OCD about reading everything.

I usually skim over them only because in, certain chapter 2's, there are bits and bits of dialogue in between. And I don't want to miss the dialogue.

Well, I still don't like the chapter twos. Way over the top extensive. I've been reading a lot of the earlier books (like #20 and less). The chapter 2s are much more brief and flows more to the book. I liked that the FF books didn't have the chapter 2s, that's a really nice change of pace. I guess the chapter 2s got more lengthy when more members joined (Mallory, Jessi, Abby) and more things happened (Dawn and MA became stepsisters, Dawn moved back to California, etc.) That being said, I like the ones with a theme. Like in Middle School Dropout, Claudia describes what portrait would look like for each BSC member. Also, there's the awesome clothing descriptions of Claudia's. My little sister who's 7 has been reading the Little Sister books. She's only read Karen's Witch, Karen's Roller Skates, Karen's Birthday, Karen's Haircut, Karen's New Friend, and Karen's Grandad. Yet she's always complaining about the chapter twos. She's all, "I KNOW that Karen is a two-two! I KNOW that her mommy and daddy got divorced and I KNOW what divorce means and that they still love Karen and Andrew! And who cares about her glassss?!" It's hilarious. she'll not like the BSC chapter twos.

I skip them mostly, even in the LS books. They're kind of repetitive and usually there's nothing new.
