Perhaps it is residual bitterness left over a missed beatles concert, but ann really seems to hate concerts. Examples: -logan and mary anne's nicky cash tickets were actually stolen from an attractive redhead! -the lowells totally bum everyone out with their racist ways during the otherwise totally uplifting all the children performance. -dawn's dad's new gf is revealed to hate people with disabilities during a fun band concert/picnic in the park. -stacey's hip new friends hide flasks in their flop socks during a u4me concert and everyone gets in trouble. -stacey's second u4me concert is scheduled during the mathletes championship! Major dilemma! -sunny totally commits a party foul by getting blasted at the jax show and trying to get ducky arrested for dui. -that tramp angelica, unsatisfied with charlie's driving, gets arrested (or something similar) and takes away kristy and claudia's chances to see blade, even though kristy won the tickets!!! So undibble!! I know kristy was jelly, but angelica didn't have to do that to kristy! So what exactly is ann's problem with live music?

^ I had never considered this but you're right. It seems that she thinks all concerts just give kids the opportunity to be bad. I think she reuses a lot of things (names, especially) so it doesn't surprise me that she reuses settings. Or maybe she had a personal bad experience or something with a concert??? Too bad she couldn't be more creative as live music can be great (though I'm personally not a huge fan)

Can anyone think of an example which disproves this theory?

I am having trouble, but you made a good point about her disliking concerts! The things I never noticed before these boards...

In Mallory's Christmas Wish, Stacey is bummed because she turns down a concert with Robert and his parents to help at Stoneybrook Manor. She thinks Kristy will get mad at her if she accepts - turns out Kristy was fine with it and was like "oh, too bad they didn't invite you, Stace!" So Stacey turns into a grouch but by the end the holiday spirit gets her (of course) and she is glad she missed it. Sooo, I guess that confirms that Ann still hates concerts (being with the old folks is more important) but that the consequences aren't all bad, in this case.

Laine seemed horribly put out by the band at the SMS dance she attended in...whichever book that was...and was all, "Oh, good, canned music" when they switched to CDs.

I am a musician so I can't understand Ann's thing against live music. It's something I am around all the time and I love it.

Can anyone think of an example which disproves this theory? I may have found one... When Jessi's in NYC with her cousins, they take her to hear jazz at the Blue Note. The only "bad" thing to come of it is she misses a dinner invite to Quint's house (and Jessi doesn't seem the least upset by it )

^ I had forgotten that. Is it in Jessi's Big Break since she's with her cousins? But I guess that might not be a "concert" like the other ones. Maybe Ann doesn't have the same issues with music in clubs as music at concerts???

Yup, it's in Jessi's Big Break.
I just checked again and it's a concert at Carnegie Hall that conflicts with Quint's invite.
